2024 Event #5 Preview / Dates

All of the players are in my spreadsheet in Alphabetical order numbered 1 to xx depending on how many are still active. Then I go to random dot org and do a random run of the 1-XX number. Then I create another column next to the players name and plug in the randomization. Then re-sort that random column BACK from 1 to xx. So now I have all XX players but completely randomized. First 12 go into League 1, next 12 go into League 2. Get the picture ?

Awesome! Looks like we are only short 5 teams out of the 7 leagues! Technically just opened yesterday. Pretty cool!

MM- any chance we can get an update on the five teams? Anyone say they were away etc, so we aren’t pressing “refresh” over and over? Ummmm- not that I would do that!

All of those not entered yet were sent an INDIVIDUAL e-mail yesterday requesting they enter or tell me when they plan to enter or if they are quitting. I actually have 8 players not in yet so league 8 will need to be used for the last 3. And after that, League 8 will get opened up to public and the password removed. Deadline for all of that to happen is Sept 6, but I hope we can get fully drafted before then.

At some point, all players will be given a deadline and if that passes they will be a NO SHOW and will be replaced by fillers.

All leagues are waivers ya know. I see no reason for players to be standing around hitting refresh. And SOM will send you an email when your league drafts.

And to be brutally honest, 7 of those 8 players not in yet are below #61 on the standings page so in all likelihood, they have given up. The other missing player is above 20. I do expect him to respond and enter.

The last event ALWAYS produces the most drops.

Looks like all leagues have drafted except #4, still waiting on the last guy. Is he one of the 61+ in the standings?

The only thing left now is fillers needed for League 8. It's already going to be a week late. But if you want to jump in and be a filler, I would be happy.

I have a question about seeding in the playoffs/draft, that I didn't see in the rules.

There will be two leagues for teams 19-42. Will they be grouped together for seeding? IE: 19 and 42 in league A and 20 and 39 in league B, etc?

Also, in the past PC's there was division grouping/seeding for Playoffs. Using my example above, 19/42 would be in the same division, etc, as will 7/18 in the first league, and so on. Or will it be random?

I am not sure how they do it in Barnstormers, but just wondering here?

Last year Barnstormers had 3 leagues of 24 teams, and I just went 21/24/27/30 etc in Semi #1 - 22/25/28/31 in Semi #2 and 23/26/29/32 in League #3- etc etc. But "Players" will only have 2 leagues. I honestly haven't given much thought to it. I could go to random dot org and just randomize the 24 players. But - this is what I have a board for. Since there are three board members, I will get their "vote" or opinion and we will go with that. We have some time to get this finalized since Event 5 playoffs just started AND their is still one league playing event 5. It might be a month before we know who those 24 players will be.

Also, in Barstormers, I never was much into a great deal of concern for Divisions and just let the SOM random engine shuffle players into divisions as they do for autoleagues. But I will let the board decide that too.
