Ballparks Used by Finalists

PostSun Mar 09, 2014 10:56 am

Congratulations to all the finalists! I'll be rooting for TomSiebert and Terry101, two guys in my regular SOM leagues, to battle it out in the championship.

I took a look at the ballparks used by the finalists to see what if anything I could learn from the masters. I was surprised that there wasn't more consensus. Twenty-five of the 30 ballparks were used at least once:

6 times: Progressive
5 times: Yankee, Safeco
4 times: Citizens Bank, US Cellular, Busch, Coors, Fenway, Miller
3 times: Camden, Rogers, Angels, Great American, PNC
2 times: Rangers, Chase, Petco, Minute Maid, Nationals, Target
1 time: Citi, Tropicana, Turner, Kauffman, O.co
0 times: Marlins, AT&T, Dodger, Comerica, Wrigley

I'm not sure I gained any insight other than what I already knew: People tend to stay away from neutral-ish fields (Dodger, Comerica, Wrigley). I was actually surprised some brave souls went with Chase, Nationals, and Turner. The righty singles hitter ballparks (Marlins and AT&T) also went unselected.

Interesting! Thanks for this, Al! I won my three divisions in MILLER, PETCO & now FENWAY. Won it all it at MILLER, lost the semis in seven at PETCO (even with home field advantage), and now heading to the semis at FENWAY.

Otherwise, came in last when home at PNC (during the cheapskates league, when I made a desperate move with 21 to play and a couple back, after playing .500 all season. We promptly went 4-17, to plummet to the worst recording the league); then second place, a game back, missing the Wild Card at 83-79, at COORS; and finally a less-than-mediocre 78-84 third place finish at Yankee Stadium.
