FRANKIE35 said, "This sounds like a big mistake. You should never drop McCovey unless you are sure that you have one of his two bad years. If you have one of McCovey's 3 good years, he is gigantically better than Cromartie/Tovar. If McCovey has been picked up as a free agent, then he is probably on a good year."

Reporting back with my tail between my legs. Someone else picked up McCovey and he is 4th in AVG, 1st in OBP, 1st in SLG, and 1st in OPS with a whopping 1.429. BIG MISTAKE FOR ME TO DROP MCCOVEY. So now I dropped Tovar and picked up Zisk to platoon with Carbo in LF. See what happens. I need someone to produce runs for me versus lefties.

Well, at this point, you're better off without him. He's poison in the clubhouse. Umps think he's a future hall-of-famer and won't call strikes against him, so he just walks a lot and we're not interested in winning by playing that kind of cheap game. Plus, he's probably 1970 or 71, and next year he'll be asking for over $100,000! and there's no way he's worth that kind of money at his age. The Giants replaced McCovey with Dave Kingman, which, uh, didn't work out that well, but I won a league with great pitching and Kong pounding the home runs, so maybe you could give that a try.

I spent a bit over 40% on pitching. Went with 3 quality right and 3 quality left handed starters and decent bullpen. 92 win season and I nearly swept the playoffs taking out a strong hitting 106 win team in 5 games. Pitching works.

Hi There ! I am lemo73 ! Your team in the auto league 347027 I figure is my toughest competition in the division. I am new to the online baseball scene. I almost croaked, as I watched my 7.47 million dollar pitcher get knocked out in the second inning by your team in the first game I ever watched online.

In this last series either one of us could have won all three games. My Bullpen logic was screwed up but I think I have it fixed. Nelson Briles was supposed to pitch only 7 innings but I think I fixed that problem.

The one weakness your team seems to have is against left handed pitching.i

I like the debate ... I asked for advice on a team in the forum once, got so much advice, I started outthinking myself and the team collapsed....now I just go with my gut, especially for mystery card games, with varied levels of success. I know that some of the respondents are great managers, but stick with what feels right to you. There's always time to adjust roster during season.....good luck.
