HAL's defensive substitution after catchers injury

PostWed Apr 23, 2014 6:47 am

Earlier in the game HAL punch run for my starting catcher. HAL substituted my Backup catcher into the game. The next inning, my backup catcher gets injured leaving me with no catcher in a tie game in the ninth inning. HAL proceeds to remove Cirillo (2 rated defensive 3rd baseman) and puts him behind the plate. Then proceeds to take Felix Fermin off my bench and put him at third base (he's not even listed as a 3rd baseman) so no I have two 5 rated defensive players in the game. Bottom of the ninth, Fermin makes a 2 base error at 3rd to lose the game. Why wouldn't HAL just put Fermin behind the plate and leave Cirillo at 3rd, which would only devastate my defense at 1 position instead of 2?
