Players were assigned to the team based on plate appearances (hitters) and innings pitched (pitchers) from 1990 to 1999. Teams were then combined (primarily) on geography to form a roster. Only players assigned to each club can be used--players remain the property of the original team even if released.
The Eastern Division is comprised of the 4 teams with the highest player salaries while the Western Division is comprised of the 4 teams with the lowest player salaries and the Central Division house the remaining 4 teams. Here's a look at each team, their owner and the key players along with the team draft position.
Eastern Division
The Montreal Jays were the first selection in the team draft. Fench33 leads the club---Fench33 has directed 68 clubs using the 90s set making the playoffs 12 times and winning 3 championships. The Jays are off to a 12-6 start and feature a starting rotation which includes Pedro Martinez, Dennis Martinez and Al Leiter. The offense features Larry Walker, Roberto Alomar, Carlos Delgado and Moises Alou.
Cabrera24 selected the 120 Millions$$$ New York club with the 4th pick of of the draft. Cabrera24 has completed 53 previous 90s teams making the playoffs 13 times and winning 2 championships. The New York team features Bret Saberhagen, Sid Fernandez, Jimmy Key and Frank Viola as starters. Derek Jeter, Paul O'Neill, Bobby Bonilla and Howard Johnson lead the offense. The team is off to an 11-7 start.
The BayArea Giant Athletes were the 9th team selected in the team draft--KaiserWill4 directs the team. KaiserWill has led two teams in the 90s set making the playoffs once and that team delivered a championship trophy to KaiserWill4. The Athletes have an impressive offense featuring Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi and Mark McGwire. Mark has already launched 12 home runs and Jason has an OPS of 1.248. Bill Swift (2-0) and Trevor Wilson (3-0) are off to good starts and the Athletes are 9-9 after the first 18 games.
Fatdaddy054 used the second pick in the team draft to choose the Milwaukee Braves. Fatdaddy054 has managed 68 clubs in the 90s set and has made the playoffs 12 times winning a championship. The Braves feature Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, Steve Avery and supplemented those three with Chris Bosio. The offense features Chipper Jones, Fred McGriff, Paul Molitor and Greg Vaughn. Central Division
The BC Manager had the 5th pick in the draft and used it to acquire the Texas Astrangers. The BC Manager has led 32 teams from the 90s set and has appeared in the playoffs 13 times winning 3 championships. The Astrangers have the league best record of 14-4 and are on a 10 game winning streak--the club has yet to lose at home delivering a 9-0 record. Kevin Brown is already 4-0, Pete Harnisch is 3-0 and Darryl Kile is 2-0. Interestingly, Donne Wall leads the club with 3 saves. The offense features Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, Luis Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez and Julio Franco.
The So Cal Dodging Angels were the 6th pick in the team draft and are led by Bigdinkent. Bigdinkent has 52 seasons complete in the 90s set making 18 playoff appearances and 6 championships. The Angels are using strong starting pitching with Hideo Nomo (3-1) leading the starters. Bryan Harvey has saved 3 games and the bullpen also features Troy Percival while other starters include Ramon Martinez and Mark Langston. The Boston-Pittburg Bombers are led by Burley Norseman--Burley had the 8th pick in the team draft. Burley has completed 7 seasons in the 90s making the playoffs twice and winning one championship. The Bombers rely on Roger Clemens to lead the pitching staff while Jason Kendall, Mo Vaughn, Nomar Garciaparra and Andy Van Slyke pace the offense. The Bombers are 6-12 and have 4 blown saves which must be disappointing Burley.
West Division
DWG used the 11th pick in the draft to select the teams that faced each other in the 1984 World Series--the San Diego Tigers. DWG has directed 42 teams from the 90s with 11 going to the playoffs and 2 winning a championship. The Tigers are paced by Tony Gwynn, Steve Finley, Alan Trammell and Bob Higginson. The starting rotation features Bruce Hurst, Andy Benes, Joey Hamilton and Andy Ashby. The Tigers currently lead the division with a record of 10-8.
The Chicago CubSox were selected with the 10th pick of the team draft and are led by Ron4Yanks. Ron4Yanks has managed 8 teams in the 90s set with 2 teams making the playoffs. Mike Morgan is off to an impressive 4-0 start which also features Jack McDowell and Charlie Hough. The offense is led by Frank Thomas and Sammy Sosa who have already hit 6 and 7 home runs respectively. Lance Johnson and Mark Grace along with Ryne Sandberg provide additional offensive firepower although Ryne is hitting .069 getting only 2 hits in 29 at bats. The CubSox are 9-9.
NewGuy1912 used the 3rd pick of the draft to choose the Seattle Rockie Mariners which was a surprise given their team salary. However, NewGuy1912 has led 2 of his 3 90s teams to the playoffs winning one championship so it's hard to bet against NewGuy1912. The Mariners feature Randy Johnson, Erik Hanson and Jamie Moyer as starters. The offense looks impressive--Alex Rodriguez, Edgar Martinez, Vinny Castilla, Dante Bichette and Ellis Burks lead the way. Interestingly, Ken Griffey Jr. was released after an injury reveal. The Mariners are 9-9.
JJB92 used the last pick of the draft to bring the More-Philly Oriolephils into the league. JJB92 has managed 10 teams from the 90s making the playoffs 5 times and winning 2 championships.
