Back to the 80s Keeper League Rules
Basic league settings:
$80 million
DH = yes
05-10-20
waivers = yes
advanced
The league is run in 5-season cycles.
Managers joining the league should be prepared to commit to all 5 seasons.
Season 1:
The draft will be conducted on the Strat-O-Matic Baseball: '70s, '80s, '90s forum.
Initial season draft will consist of five rounds. The draft will be serpentine with the exception of Round 5, which will be reverse order of Round 1.
Rounds 1 and 3 draft order is 1 through 12.
Rounds 2, 4, and 5 draft order is 12 through 1.
Draft order will be determined by a randomizer.
Managers will select four players and one unique stadium during the draft.
The stadium may be selected in any round.
Note: Your drafted players should be placed last on your auto-draft card.
Season 1 Divisions:
Divisions are based on draft position:
East: 1, 4, 7, 10
Central: 2, 5, 8, 11
West: 3, 6, 9, 12
Seasons 2-5:
As soon as rosters are frozen near the end of the season, each manager will select any three players from their final roster to carry over for next season.
As soon as all managers announce their protected players, a 1-round supplemental draft is conducted.
Any non-protected player is eligible to be selected in the supplemental draft.
In the supplemental draft, the first eight picks are made by non-playoff teams.
All ties resolved based on regular season (tie break "winner" picks last)
1. head-to-head
2. run differential
3. run differential head-to-head
4. winner of the last game between the tied teams.
Playoff teams automatically draft 9-12 as follows:
9. first-round loser with worst regular season record
10. first-round loser with best regular season record
11. finals loser
12. league champions
Note: Your protected players should be placed last on your auto-draft card.
Season 2-5 Divisions:
The West Division will be made up of the four playoff teams.
Central Division gets the teams with the next four best records.
East: 9, 10, 11, 12
Central: 5, 6, 7, 8
West: 1, 2, 3, 4
Stadiums:
Managers may trade stadiums between seasons.
A manager must use his own supplemental pick to select a stadium.
Non-playoff teams choosing a new stadium with their pick, can still pick a player, but their player gets picked at the end of the draft.
A playoff team may elect to change stadiums or pick a player with their pick. If they choose a new stadium they forfeit their supplemental pick.
A manager replacing another within a 5-season cycle may select a new unique stadium before the start of the Supplemental Draft without penalty.
Rosters:
Managers are allowed to trade or cut their draft picks and keepers during the season.
