I am kind of confused why he has kept both, Templeton is tearing it up offensively and Yount has his third best card. I was assuming Jerry would drop Yount. .... I ended up going with Freddie Patek and Frank Duffy. Patek started out killing LHP so I kept him, cut Duffy, and added Roger Metzger to play against RHP. So I am using a Metzger/ Patek platoon which is emblematic of my prolific and ultra creative GM style.

I have Gene Alley 1968 card and he's been my SS with Metzger as late inning D replacement. This combo worked well this year. Currently up 2-0 in finals vs Robert Latorre Chatham Clippers (a shock to me).

Of course Rob comes back after being down 3-0 to win 4 straight to win the title. Had my ace (Flanagan 1979, I think he won Cy Young that year) going at home game 5 vs Ross Grimsley (1977, 2nd worst card) and lose 3-1 on Bench 3 run shot. I knew I was in trouble going back to his park for games 6 & 7. Great season though, lots of fun these mystery card sets!

Templeton, Garry (S, E) vs. L 10 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 .000 .000 .000
SS vs. R 49 19 4 3 2 11 5 3 .388 .436 .714
Looks like Templeton's 4R card, so I'm holding onto Yount as long as possible, which may not be too much longer. LM Bombers prefers some offense at SS. I have won many with Metzger in DH leagues, loading up at other positions. You really need a 2B who can hit at least pretty good. However, after a few nice Burleson and Concepcion seasons, I am starting to appreciate getting a little offense from the SS. I also like Harrelson for short money.

Howdy,

Lately I've opted not to bother with Metzger because one often needs to draft him no lower than 3rd. No, thanks. For a roughly 1mil $ more, I've been using guys like Speier, L. Cardenas , Kessinger and Harrelson. My results have been somewhat disappointing, although Speier is hitting lefty pitching quite well for my current squad. I'm, about ready to throw caution to the wind with my next team and draft either Burleson or Belanger.
