Games played: 159 games
There have been 450 games played between the pitching and hitting centric teams. The pitching teams have reclaimed the lead in the season series--and will win the season series--there are only six games remaining between the two styles.
Pitching teams: 229 wins (50.9%)
Hitting teams: 221wins (49.1%)
The playoffs teams are all set---the only pending question is the winner of the east/wild card winner.
Congrats to the 4 playoff teams and their owners
East (Hitting): Newcar13's Be Kind to Others had a tough week--the 8 game lead is down to one game with three to go. Be Kind 2 Others will close the series with second place Beantown Brawl Coolbeans. Be Kind to others have a run differential of +107 and a record of 88-71.
Central: (mixed): Franky35's Low Smoke (Pitching) ran away with the division---Low Smoke has a 19 game lead and a run differential of +222 best in the league. Low Smoke will be the number one seed with a record of 98-61
West (Pitching) The BC Managers' Preseid Meteor Showers have a 5 game lead with a record of 88-71 game lead and a run differential of +45
Wild card race: Hitting team Burley Norseman's Beantown Brawl Coolbeans (87-72 +57 will be in the playoffs as either the wild card or division winner if they can take 2 of three from Be Kind.
Although the pitchers won the season series, the hitters and pitchers both had two teams reach the playoffs
A big congratulations to Burley Norseman---entries in the 90s version of this idea and this decade's team both made the playoffs--he's the only owner who managed to accomplish that.
An almost as large of a congratulations to The BC Manager--leader of the Perseid Meteor Showers in this league. His Houston Pudge Rockets tied for the division league in the 90s but lost in the tiebreaker after losing the last game of the season to Sphillips' RI Aces--the eventual champion in the 90
On the other end of the spectrum---finishing with the worst record in both the 90s and 70s version was...the author of what you are reading--JJB92. The 70s version was even more cruel to me than the 90s version. Despite the presence of Pete Rose, Willie Stargell, Hank Aaron (partial season), Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, A Handful of Pain managed to lose more than 100 games.
Highest scoring hitting team: The Diamond Duds have scored 1,072 runs--an average of 6.74 runs per game.
Fewest runs allowed--pitching teams: Low Smoke recaptured the lead in this category--they are allowing only 4.11runs per game
