League—69 games completed
Some separation has become apparent—largest lead is now 10 games and 5 teams trail by 5 or more games. Two of the three divisions had lead changes since the last update.
Largest division lead—3 games in East and Central---the West division leader has a 1 game lead

East: Generationm1's Premeditated Resentment had an excellent week and now have a lead of 3 games over LM Bombers Louisville Bats. Resentment has been fueled by Jake Peavy (11-3, ERA 3.17/WHIP 1.25 from the mound and Gary Sheffield (.323/.431//.642 from the dish contributing 24 home runs. Premeditated continues to have the best run differential in the league with a +105 mark.

Central: Spider67’s Hickory Taverns have surged to the division lead and now enjoy a 3 game lead over DSZCYPKA's One For Pops club. Johan Santana is 7-8 but has an ERA of 3.63/WHIP of .99.
Shawn Green (.279/.351.593) and Travis Haffner (.343/.444/.642) have helped to propel the offense.

West: The BC Manager's Sooke Super Spreaders continues to set the pace in the West. Nol15736s’ Galifrey Timelords had a good week and have taken over second place trailing by one game. Pedro Astacio has returned to earth—he’s now 4-4 with an ERA of 4.75/WHIP of 1.32. Javier Vasquez is 9-5 4.05/1.33 while Josh Hamilton—when he’s available—has produced offense at .359/.405/.635 and Jeff Kent has been a significant contributor. (.322/.412/.536)

The injury bug continues to attack the Super Spreaders. Last week, the team had lost 71 games to injuries—that number is now at 99. That is the same as the other three teams in the West combined.

Interesting player moves—the pace of significant player changes has slowed but there have been a few more high priced talent released.

Hitters

Troy Tulowitzki, Milton Bradley, Jeff Cirillo and Carlos Delgado have all been released from their teams.

Pitchers:

Tom Glavine, Josh Beckett, Eric Gagne and Armando Benitez were all relieved of their dutie

Thanks for these periodic write-ups. They take a lot of work. I hadn't realized how many moves everyone (except for me) had made. It looks like almost all of my team is at least on their 3rd best season and several of the positions have complementing seasons from players.

I doubt that my luck will hold out for long - but I'll take it while it lasts.

A lot to look at! Counting down the games until Shawn Estes is relegated to bench duty (game 158 will be his 30th and final start) Might bring him out over the gambler should I make the playoffs but a loooooong way to go before that matters.

Thanks for doing these write ups. Always entertaining!

Overall team that had the most adversity sent their way: Burley Norseman had his offense sabotaged with bad years from Omar Vizquel and Jimmy Rollins--making matter worse, both had a high threshold for plate appearances which sabotaged the Brutal Bats offense. Making matters worse was Ramon Ortiz who managed to have an ERA almost 9 runs per game. Burley was a good sport and kept the guys in the lineups despite painful performances.

Team that was helped the most by his division mates----Spider 67's Hickory Taverns received two gift pitchers in Jamey Wright and Jeremy Bonderman. Doug Glanville was the assigned position player and while he underperformed his average, his performance was in the acceptable, if not ideal, range.

Gifts:
Gold: Pitchers—PJeremy Bonderman-(no change)
Gold: Hitters--Jason Kendall (no change)

League MVP per SOM awards:

Vlad Guerrero of the Timelords---.329/.366/.670---58 home runs, 27 doubles, 14 triples

Cy Young

Johan Santana 18-12, 3.07 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 273 Innings Pitched

Quick hits on each club:

Premeditated Resentment.......the big three of Jake Peavy, John Lackey and Matt Belisle combined for 48 wins. Six different relief pitchers provided at least 1 save. Gary Sheffield (52), Adrian Gonzalez (50) Miguel Cabrera (49), Ryan Braun (34) and Victor Martinez (25) enjoyed facing 6 sabotaged starting pitchers within the Eastern division.

Louisville Bats: The Bats went 10-2 before dropping the last three games of the season when making a late season run. Kevin Brown won 20 games while Dmitri Young put up very impressive numbers .299/.367/.550 including 27 doubles and 36 home runs. Luis Castillo had 202 hits and stole 53 bases. Lance Berkman and Chipper Jones each hit 33 home runs. Kyle Farnsworth--picked up around game 90--contributed 17 saves in just 12 innings.

Savannah Bananas: Adam Wainwright lead the club with 15 wins--interestingly, sabotaged pitchers Livian Hernandez and Nate Robertson each won 10 games. They finished with identical records of 10-17. Troy Percival provided 37 saves. Offense was a challenge all year long--Miguel Tejada only contributed 6 home runs in 629 plate appearances. Jason Kendall got hit by pitches 21 times to go along with 66 walks.

Fight The Good Fight: When one roles out Jimmy Haynes and Omar Daal twice in any 5 game set, the results are going to be pleasant for the hitters on the other teams. Jimmy and Omar were a combined 11-33. In season acquisition Andy Pettitte went an impressive 16-7 with an ERA of 3.12/WHIP of 1.14. Joe Mauer .329/.413/.478 and Brian Giles .316/.442/.678 paced the offense with assists from in season acquisition Michael Young hit .335/.382/.512.

Hickory Taverns: Five starting pitchers posted double digit wins---besides Johan Santana, Jeremy Bonderman and Jamey Wright, Ben Sheets provided 18 wins while Chuck Finley added 11. Arthur Rhodes contributed 23 saves and only 6 blown saves. The Taverns often doubled their fun---Travis Hafner (46) Todd Helton (45), Alex Gordon (41) and Edgar Renteria (38) led the way. Shawn Green led the team in runs batted in with 132. Todd Helton (112) and Travis Haffner (105) also broke the century mark.

One For Pops: Manny Ramirez (53) and Jeff Bagwell (47) combined for 100 home runs. Jeff also walked over 100 times with 101. Manny Ramirez walked 98 times while Andrew Jones took 94 free passes. Derek Lowe paced the team with 17 wins while in season acquisition Takashi Saito provided 21 saves and 8 wins with a WHIP of 1.10. Takashi replaced Keith Foulke (6 saves, 5 blown saves/WHIP of 1.48 and Hong Chih Kuo (4 saves but ERA of 4.43/WHIP of 1.30)

Beren's Park Hunklas: Chris Carpenter lead the club with 13 wins and Matt Thornton was impressive out of the bullpen with 11 wins. Matt had an ERA of 2.65 and a WHIP of 1.06 providing value for his 1.99 salary. Javy Lopez had an outstanding year hitting .346/.409/.720. Javy launched 54 home runs and drove in 130 runs. Aramis Ramirez added 42 home runs and drove in 100 runs. It does not appear that Rigged Splits is a fan of the stolen base---the team stole 8 bases all season and were caught stealing 5 times.

Sabotaged Snappers: The Snappers starting pitching core included Randy Johnson, Matt Cain, Cole Hammels and Zach Greinke. Randy led the league with 348 strike outs and had an ERA of 2.96 with a WHIP of 1.12. However, Randy had a overdose of unfortunate luck as his record for the year was 12-17. Matt Cain led the team with 18 wins--his ERA was 4.11 with a WHIP of 1.33. Cole contributed 10 wins and a 3.86 ERA/WHIP of 1.12. Zach had an ERA of 3.24/WHIP of 1.12 but an 8-8 record. Cole was 10-13 for the year. On the offensive side, Grady Sizemore hit 34 home runs while Angel Berroa led the team with 80 runs batted in.

Gallifrey Timelords: Besides Vlad Guerrero, Cliff Floyd (.275/.331/.524--35 home runs), Todd Hundley (.264/.357/.640 with 30 home runs led the offense. Derek Jeter hit .285/.367/.383 and Chone Figgins.289/.374 along with 44 stolen bases. Derek swiped 36 bases. Felix Hernandez paced the team with 14 wins---Roger Clemens added 13 and in season pick up Dontrelle Willis added 12. Jason Isringhausen saved 32 while only blowing 4 saves.

Sooke Super Spreaders: The Spreaders were impacted by injuries all season losing a stunning 193 days to injuries. Forty seven injuries occurred during the season. By comparison, Fight The Good Fight lost 36 games to injury and with only 11 instances of injury.

Javier Vazquez won 20 games for the Spreaders and in season pick up Pedro Martinez was 7-2 with an ERA of 2.49/1.20 WHIP helped the pitching staff. Clay Hensley added 16 saves with only 2 blown saves. On the offensive side the keystone combination of Jeff Kent .299/.385/.543 and Nomar Garciaparra .314/.364/.559 both had excellent seasons. Josh Hamilton--when healthy---he missed 51 games--contributed .316//.380/.579.

Easy Money: Roy Oswalt turned around a tough start finishing with a record of 18-13. His ERA was 4.25/WHIP of 1.25. Mariano Rivera provided 25 saves but had 13 blown saves and an ERA of 4.02. The offense was led by Albert Pujols .326/.421/.611. Albert hit 47 homers and drove in 128 runs. Yunel Escobar contributed to the offense via .306/.375/.406. JD Drew launched 37 home runs and knocked in 103. Marcus Giles hit 47 doubles and scored 101 runs--second only to Albert who scored 113.

Badland Brutal Bats: John Smoltz led the team with 14 wins despite and ERA of 5.29. The bullpen was a challenge for Burley Norseman all season---the club had 35 blown saves as multiple closers failed to get the job done. Mike Adams, Bobby Jenks, Rob Nen and Armando Benitez all created heartache for Burley. On the offensive side, Alex Rodriguez had a great year--.303/.407/.647 as did Moises Alou .314/.377/.568. Alex launched 56 home runs/drove in 128 while Moises contributed 40/124. Jacque Jones was a contributor--.335/.369/.522 all season long.

Thanks for pulling this league together. Enjoyed reading the regular updates. My team was fortunate to have most players in one of the 3 best seasons, so I only needed to make two roster moves (Erstad for Mora paid off nicely) . That gave a significant $ advantage over teams with loads of transactions (Sometimes luck is just "on your side.) Glanville, while not quite hitting his #s, was still an effective players, earning fielding honorable mention and contributing many timely sacs. Additionally his 14 HRs were often at crucial times.
