BC, I have the 60s roster by team if you need it. I also have what other teams could claim each player. For instance when looking at the Braves roster you will see Orlando Cepeda and notated next to his name is SF & STL which means you would compete with the Giants and Cards for Cepeda if you wanted to use him on your Braves team.

There are different team abreviations used. For example MIL. MLN & ATL would all be for the Braves franchise.
On the other hand and MIL players for years 1970 or later would actually belong to the Seattle Pilots.

PHN and PHI are Phillies; Angels are LAA & CAL

The trickiest are WAS. WAS cards from 1960 and earlier belong to MIN and WAS cards WAS cards 1961 and later as well as all TEX cards are the Senators

Anyway I have the spreadsheet if you need it.

That's awesome LM! I think many in the league might like that. I'll PM you my email address. Can others do the same?

Ok, now that we have 12 owners it’s time to settle on the rules.

I’m going to float one idea that would be a significant change on what was originally proposed. My original post proposed a 4-season league, with 1 season for each mystery card decade. The idea I’d like to put out there is doing 2 seasons for each decade. That would make it an 8-season league that will run twice as long. That could be a deal breaker for some.

Here’s why I’m floating this idea. I know from experience that with this kind of league there’s a lot of room for disappointment, in two ways:

1- You pick a team that you’re enthusiastic about, but you lose out on one of your key players to another team that also holds his rights. For example, perhaps you picked the Yankees, looking forward to having Mantle and Maris on the same team. But you lose out on Maris to the owner of the Cardinals.
2- You’ve got a star player you’re excited about but you get his worst card in the mystery card roll of the dice. For example, you’ve got the A’s and you get stuck with Reggie Jackson’s lousy 1968 card. (And you’re not guaranteed to get him in the 70s since his rights are shared with the Yanks).

By doing 2 seasons per decade, you’d get two shots, both at getting the players you want and getting a decent card for each player.

I’m not going to make a big push for this option, but I wanted to put it out there for consideration.

What’s your preference, 4 seasons or 8? How strongly do you feel about your preference?

I'm good either way. No preference.

In the two seasons per decade option we would keep the same two teams? That is fine but I would like a reshuffle of divisions at least in the 2nd season.

That would be the next question, if we go to 2 seasons per decade - redraft of second teams in between? I think the divisions would get realligned either way.

Two seasons per decade, keep the same teams

I'm ok with 2 seasons, but I would like to make one 60 season and 70-80-90 and restart with a another round of 60,70 etc.. with new teams!! What you think!!

So far no one's against 2 seasons per decade. Hoping some others will weigh in by tomorrow. Will plan to make a decision about this and other rules and get the draft order set by tomorrow night.

RICHARDGAGNON, I appreciate your suggestion but that just amounts to doing the same theme twice. It doesn't address the issues I outlined. I'll admit one hesitation I have with 2 seasons per decade is that the 60s is my least favourite of the 4 mystery sets. But I'd enjoy back-to-back 70s and 80s seasons.
