A question for my Senators/Twins. I get two picks in the draft rounds, since the Senators/Twins are ranked 12. The Senators/Twins have NO catchers on the protected/unprotected list of players. Do I HAVE to pick two catchers during the two rounds?

OK, first, I made a mistake. Please add Paul Casanova to the Senators/Twins list of players. You may change your list of protected players if you want to protect him. Second, you do not need to draft any catcher. The rules allow any owner to pick up a .75 free agent or agents from a nonselected team in order to meet team requirements. So, the Senators will have Casanova (let's face it, the Astros aren't going to waste a pick on him) and, if the Senators do not pick a catcher in the 2 round draft, they can pick up one free agent catcher having a salary of 0.75. If the Senators do pick up one catcher in the 2 round draft then they cannot pick up a .75 free agent catcher (unless the Astros select Casanova in the expansion draft).

I understand that sphilipp may think this is unfair, but I need to comment on the Giant's protected list. There is no need to protect Herbel or Jesus Alou because it is extremely unlikely that the Astros will select these duds. The Giants should consider protecting WIlhelm and Dietz since they could likely trade their rights in the preseason or any time during the season.

Wilhelm is the best reliever in the whole league. Dietz is the 4th most expensive catcher and due to the limited availability of players, there will be fewer cap issues than in a regular season. It's just my opinion, but I didn't envision top players being available in the expansion draft.

I respect sphilipp. He's a great player and he's very fair. I'm not trying to hurt his team but I'm trying to get a reasonably realistic expansion draft.

Sounds good, just wanted to be clear before the draft.

Franky - I have no problem with your post.

Also, Fench selected Norm Cash for his Tigers. He is the property of the White Sox.

Franky I found a catcher you left off the Senators/Twins players- Earl Battey, so I need to adjust my protected players. Paul Casanova was on the expansion senators team (1961-1971). The expansion Senators were left out of your league rosters.

Actually I'll take Battey off. He started his career with the White Sox, he was only on the Senators/Twins starting in the 60s.

Also to be fair you need to take Dick Bosman, Barry Moore and Jim Hannan off the Senators/Twins roster. They played for the expansion Senators after the Senators moved to Minnesota following the 1960 season and weren't part of the original Senators/Twins.

Question

PostFri Dec 04, 2015 7:44 am

The Pirates weren't taken, and let's suppose I take Willie Stargell in the draft for my Red Sox. Next season when we move to the '70s, is he still property of the Red Sox?
