In the 70s game, you only need 3 pure relievers and (I think) a total of 4 pitchers that can relieve.

I seriously considered taking the Mets. Clearly the best group of starters in the league. But how did that team finish 10 games over .500? Was the NL East that bad? How did the Mets ever score any runs? I can tell by their stats it wasn't starting 3rd baseman Roy Staiger, and it wasn't midseason acquisition Pepe Mangual. Milner had his best rbi year (78); but I guess we have to look to Kong who led the team in RBI and almost led the team in steals with 7 (Harrelson had 9). Good luck Paul!

Franky, thanks for the clarification on RP pitchers. I'll change the front page to reflect this. Three pure relievers shouldn't be as hard to come up with.

And stop maligning the Mets. GMac will be pretty angry.

Like your picks Hailedog. You took them right out from under me.
Now, let's hope my other choice is still out there when my turn comes.

If Paul can get the Phillies away from Ggrover for me I will gladly trade him the Royals!

I'll let you know in just a sec ;-)
I do have two choices. One will be a little bit of a surprise methinks. Maybe not.

Well, Paul that helped me some, because that was one of the two teams I was leaning heavily towards.
I do want to check out one more thing, then I will quickly make my pick. Probably within the next 10 minutes.

Paul, can you clarify. Who can we pick up as free agents during the season? I had assumed that we can only pick up players that we have rights to. Is that correct? For example, Bob Gibson, who retired after the 1975 season, can't be on any team - is that right?
