In 80 million dollar leagues do you use a DH or not? Having difficulty if I am using a DH to pick enough decent players

Depends on if you are in a DH league or not. Whatever kind of league you are in the rest of the league has the same salary restraints.

depending on your definition of decent, you won't be able to afford 4 decent SPs, some decent relievers and 9 decent batters. You need to save money somewhere. Also, keep in mind you need to balance the number of decent players you have with the number of players you want that you are more certain to get.

I may be assuming too much, but if your definition of a decent 3B is limted to Brett, Schmidt, Boggs and Molitor, keep in mind that probably at least 6 teams are drafting those 4 players, in my experience. Even more teams might be drafting Yount, Ripken and Trammel.

That being said, there always seems to be one team that squeeks out Sandberg, Ripken, Schmidt, Murphy and Henderson, or some nonsense like that.

A lot of managers use DH as one position where they try to use relatively cheaper players, and/or a platoon. It all depends on who else you target when you draft, and who you end up with. Again, the definition of "decent" is very relative, but in an 80 mill league you are going to have to scrimp somewhere. It also depends on what stadium you are playing in, and what stadiums your competitors are playing in: a DH in the Kingdome might be considered more of a priority than in Oakland Coliseum, for example.

If you are newer at the mystery card games, here's a suggestion: in leagues that you enter, notice how other managers construct their rosters, especially at the beginning of the season. Some guys load up on expensive guys at most positions and go with cheap DHs. Some guys go with cheaper middle INFs or catchers, and put a stud at DH. Get some ideas from what others are doing, and tailor those ideas to what you prefer and what you think works best for your team/league.
