As it unfortunately is getting to the point where a lot of our favorite former ballplayers are passing away, I thought it might be nice to remember some of them. If you have an addition, both current or past, feel free to include it. If this is not the best place for this topic and someone wants to move the thread, fine by me:

The reason I thought of going ahead with this today? R.I.P. former All-Star George "Boomer" Scott, who died today at age 69:

I skipped school to attend a Red Sox home opener the year Scott came back to Boston(1977 Strat Cards) and I will always remember everyone in the crowd standing and yelling "Boomer", "Boomer", "Boomer" every time he came to bat. He and the Sox hit a ton of home runs in what was thought to be a year in which the ball had been juiced. I also remember some what I guess would be thinly veiled racist comments about his choice of food when he was getting a little too heavy and becoming ineffective towards the end of his career. He was definately a fun guy to watch when he came to bat, but I still wish they had not traded Cecil Cooper to bring him back. Cooper would have fit nicely in the Sox line ups of that time period.
