What is your favorite decade for mystery card play (optional and why)?

Is it true that the 80 million dollar teams in the 1980s tend to be stronger than an 80 million dollar team (on average) from the 1970s, or just stronger offensively?

What is the most popular decade for mystery card play?

They all have their appeal to me, but particularly the 1970s and 1980s.

I like 80's the best, but am planning an extended run with the 60's game.

I love the 80s. More solid options at lower prices especially for relief pitchers. There are some very good value players that can really help a team at the plate in Lonnie Smith and Alvin Davis. Also, the break the bank pricing prevalent in the other decades makes it harder to field a consistent lineup from 1-9.

My favorite is the 90s because the majority of the seasons (92 and later) are "modern." What I mean is pitchers have gb A and hitters have gb C. (There are some 60s seasons that this is also true.) This gives pitchers depth that is so missing in the 70s game.

Chalk me up as a fan of the 80s game as well.
My favorite by far.

Although I love them all the 80's is my least favorite by far for the fact that the players are priced too cheap and for the small player pool which is made more apparent by the low pricing model (especially for hitters). I had told myself that I wouldn't play the 80s again until SOM overhauls the pricing structure and adds more players to the player pool. It appears as if that will never happen so I'll play it again at some point.

Of the old 3 games I rank them in order of preference as 70s/90s/80s. However with the 60s being brand new it is way at the top currently and I will play that exclusively for a while. Where it ultimately ends up in my order of preference is still to be determined.

70s by far is my favorite. Great mix of players that allow for very divergent lineup strategies, Power Hitting, OBP or go Pitching oriented. The 80s is my least favorite due to the small player pool and so many players having seasons that are R or L wacky (3R, E, 4L etc...) year to year. If Strat allowed us to change lineups versus pitchers rather than RH or LH pitchers I would feel better. The 90s are in between, I can't seem to win there but like the player pool. Biggest drawback in the 90s is the # of seasons with very few ABs on the card, it distorts reality. There is a reason why guys only played 46 games with 82 ABs!!!!

So they 1980s player pool is smaller than the 70s and 90s? .... What about the 1960s player pool size ?... It seems like the average 1980s team would be nicer than the average 1970s team within the same salary cap. And that is not necessarily good or bad. Sometimes it is fun to play in a league where the teams are closer to real MLB teams talent wise and sometimes it is fun to be in a league full of stacked teams. Most of the time I think I would prefer the 1970s in this regard. I think the 1990s holds less appeal for me because of that whole steroids thing. And the 1960s is a little before my time. But they all look fun. I think I played the 1970s mystery game long ago and did not know what the heck I was doing. I look forward to trying it again.

My favorite is the 80's. That was the time period that I became a baseball fan and so it brings back many good memories. I can picture what the baseball cards look like for some players and will dig them out of the now 30+ year old cardboard shoebox and setup the lineup.

Yeah, my wife makes fun of me. Says I'm 43 going on 10 or 12. But hey...now I can drink beer while I enjoy a baseball game.

I'd love to see the 80's add some more players so that 24 team leagues could take place in it. I enjoy the 24 team leagues much more, as they more closely resemble a real baseball season.

Maybe it is due to familiarilty, but I prefer the 80s.
Also like the 70s but it is just strange that every league starts with amazing pitchers on the waiver wire due to how many great pitchers there are at extreme prices.
I reall havent enjoyed the 90s anywhere near as much as the other 2. Too many cheap players with one amazing year. That plus letting HAL do your lineup made the game very strange. I took advantage of it, sure, but it seemed to be a race for those players instead of solid more famous players.
I am curious how it is going to work out with the new HAL system.
