Willie Mays & Al Oliver & Davey Lopes

How can Al Oliver be more expensive than Willie Mays in the 1970s game? I think maybe they add too much salary to players who are versatile and can play several positions. While it is nice when a player can play several positions well in real life it does not help you quite as much in this format of on-line SOM.
Who are some big name players you feel are overpriced in the 1970s game? I think Carlton Fisk may be a little overpriced but maybe I am discounting his great defense a little bit...??
Where does one play Davey Lopes who is a 3 in both CF and 2B?

Oliver is the drives in runs and can really. Mays gets injured a lot, but will always be on base due to BB

All funny grammar aside, does anyone have any insight into why Oliver who is a 3 in CF is more expensive than Mays who is a 2 in CF? Their offensive numbers are similar. I suppose Mays is more of an injury risk, maybe that is why...
Who are some players from the 1970s who YOU think are overpriced?
Will the 1970s auto league ever fill? I know the 1960s game is new and drawing a lot of interest, but in the last week no one has joined me in the new (and only) 1970s mystery league.

Oliver is a better hitter in the 70s game than Mays and you wouldn't play him in CF. Mays is a good pick too but high injury risk. Remember this is old man Mays, not the Mays of the 60s game. Also there seems to be a lack of good LH hitters in the 70s game which also boosts Oliver's case in comparison to Mays.

I started a 70's league a few weeks ago and it filled pretty quickly. I was worried it wouldn't because of the new 60's format but it didn't take long.

You can get away with playing Al Oliver in CF if you are strong defensively elsewhere. I have won championships playing a 3 at SS, 2B and CF. Though not all at the same time...
Also, I think it may be debatable that Oliver is the better hitter. But I appreciate the help LM, thanks!
I am a newcomer to the mystery game, not to SOM or even on-line SOM...
Who are some players from the 1970s mystery game you guys feel are overpriced? Thanks for any replies.

I would say many of the pricey 3L and higher players. In this group would be players like Winfield, Valentine, Dwight Evans & Mike Ivie.

Bobby Murcer hasn't worked the 2 times I've tried him...Rick Monday has worked out better and is cheaper.
