Mystery Card Lineup tweak needed

When a player is injured, the sub automatically goes into their spot in the order even when a new game is started. This can really hurt your lineup when they are the #3 or # 4 batter. It also is not at all realistic. It is much more likely that this sub would be put at the bottom of the lineup. Why can't SOM make a tweak to do this. It won't help tell us what card a player has and would be more realistic.

I agree!!! This just happened to me also. I have Greenwell batting 3rd. He gets injured during the first game of the series. Ther rest of the Series Vince Coleman on a sub-par year (of all people) is put into the number 3 slot. This actually cost me a game. I had the bases loaded with 2 outs in the ninth. Down by a run. Coleman comes up and stikes out to end the game. Would have been nice if I could have had someone who can actually hit up in that situation. I would have loved it if HAL would Re-order the lineup after an injury.

The rationale for why Hal did not re-order the lineup and bat, for example, Vince Coleman #8 instead of #3, is stated by SOM in the mystery card discussion:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Previously, in the event of substitutions, the game engine would re-order the lineup in general offense value, which also would give clues towards the identity of your players' Mystery Cards. This re-ordering will not happen anymore for new Mystery Card leagues."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This makes sense. A manager should not unfairly benefit from Hal's wisdom. He should not be able to gain insight into which mystery cards are better suited for a particular batting order.

Also, while it's true that automatically placing the sub at the bottom of the order seems a reasonable solution because no clues are given concerning mystery cards, it is unrealistic that a sub would always be expected to be a weak hitter relative to the rest of the lineup.

The best thing about SOM is the realism. I understand why SOM changed the Mystery Card games lineup logic but I think they went too far with the injury substitution change. I am sick and tired of having Bob Melvin leadoff for my 90s team because Jason Kendall got hurt. I bet Bob Melvin didn't even leadoff in Little League. Could you get clues to what card you have through HAL's injury substitutions in the past - yes. But so what - it's better than absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic substitutions. It also doesn't make any sense to determine a player's card through an injury reveal but it's just part of the game. There's no reason why HAL's injury substitutions couldn't just be part of the game as well.

...or they could just revert things back to the way they used to be.
