I am relatively new to strat and have read the virtue of patience.....
well.., My team is 15-27 and based on "injuries reads" Porter and Gibson are in their best year; but are hitting .200 and .210 respectively.
How long should I wait?????

Now the question you may want to ask yourself is...If you do drop them and someone else picks them up...and they go on an offensive tear...Will you be good with that?
As long as an injury reveal shows the best card on a player I would never drop them. Just make sure your read was correct.

I agree Jimmy; but it's painful!

Patience pays. And never ever drop a guy on one of his best years, if you are interested in winning.Good luck!

You can delete your duplicate thread which I am sure was just a mistake...

I seem to have turned around a team in a current league by picking up two players that were cut by others, and I was able to determine they had good seasons.
I also cut two different players who at first glance appeared to be doing well. However, an injury in one case and careful analysis in another revealed poor seasons. So despite both of them hitting over .300, I let them go. I found it interesting that both players got picked up by other managers and then cut a short time later.
If you know you have a good card, keep it.
If you know you have a bad card, cut it.

I got a 75 Johnny Bench (inj reveal) who is killing me.
thru 48 games
Bench, Johnny R 189 22 32 11 0 7 27 14 47 .169 .229 .339
home stadium is oakland. home/road splits are nearly identical. i have never had a card perform this bad.
no better catchers are available in free agency.
Have to hold on to him and hope he gets hot

Quoting his results is meaningless since you know which card you have, and--in Bench's case--he really doesn't have a bad card. His card is no different just because he has underperformed so far.
When possible, base your cut/keep decisions based on the card, not the results. (There are times you have to make decisions based on results but only when you don't know through injury reveal or other means which card you have.)
To put it another way, NEVER cut a good card just because it is "slumping." I don't care if Carlton Fisk and Gary Carter were available; I'd still keep Bench.

And NEVER keep a bad card because he is rocking it. The rocking will end, probably after game 142.

Well; we have improved from 15-27 to 30-39!
Porter only at .227, but 9HRS. Gibson up to .269.
Sax (.293 and best card) and B Black are key additions, but with 100 games to go, Henderson, Larkin, Gibson, Porter, in their best yrs., I believe I'm competitive.
