Because SOM gets the final say of who is in and who is not in any SOM game. Maybe Blefary is a favorite of one of the SOM guys that make the decisions. Who knows. Just like "noses" everyone has their own opinion of what the criteria should be. To me a player must have at least 3 viable seasons in that decade to be in the game. Something like '68, '69, '70, '71 and '72 would work as would ''77, 78, '79, '80 & '81. Four years in the 60's and one in the 70's would not make my cut for the 70's game.

Based on Blefary's years Johnny Bench should be represented in the 60's and 80s's!

Based on Blefary I agree with you. However Bench only had two seasons of more than 93 AB in the 60s so I wouldn't include him. There is no reason for him not to be in the 80s game as he had 4 seasons in the 80s with 200+ PA which is more than enough seasons and PA. There are LOTS of missing players for the 80s game.
Phil Niekro had six 200+ IP seasons in the 80s and he is not in the game.
Tom Seaver had six 166+ IP seasons in the 80s and he is not in the game.
I could list dozens of players like that.

And of course they inexplicably left off the only MVP/ROY combo by Freddy Lynn in 1975.
