Ray Oyler: I'm drawing the line!

Howdy,

I insist on a "2" at SS (I've had my share of "1"s, also). I always have a "2" as a backup at Short, for that matter. My last '60s team had Ray Oyler as a back-up at Short. Never again. Oyler hit 20 lbs. below his weight. So as far as the '60s goes, I'll have to settle for a "3" as a back-up at Short, as long as he can reliably hit 225. What about you?

I routinely have a 3 as a backup at shortstop in 60s leagues.

Oyler played all season for the 68 Tiges. When the world series began Mayo Smith replaced him with Mickey Stanly. There was a reason for that.

Micky's home town was Grand Rapids Michigan, in case anyone cares. :)

Howdy,

Oyler's offensive impotence might be tolerable if he were rated as a "1" at SS, but not as a "2". I'll take my chances with Ted Kubjak (A "3" range-wise and a switch-hitter)of the Rangers/A's as my backup SS.

No Don Kessinger is the 60's game is the biggest snub. All Star from 1968-1972. Gold Glove 69 and 70. The defensive rating are biased high. I always try to get Ernie Banks for that reason.
