Is this goodbye?

PostThu Nov 07, 2019 2:39 am

I was down to my very last game of SOM Online Baseball. My team was playing game 6 of the semi-finals down three games to two. I’ve been playing this game for years, but I was ready to move on.

Except that I won game 6. And then I won game 7, so I earned a free credit. I even went on the win the championship in 7 games, another credit.

So, you all will have Coyote and my Denver Destroyers to kick around for a couple more seasons. See you in the 60s!

PS. My thanks to Joe Walsh's Kojak Lollipops who knocked off gfg001's juggernaut Burlington Diesels (99-63 +123 run differential) in the semi-finals.

Happy things keep happening to me on my way to SOM retirement. I only play one team at a time, and I have won enough credits to keep me going since my initial post. Still, I have been on the fence what to do when my credits finally run out.

Then SOM announces a 1-day sale on credits just as my team goes on a 10-0 run, almost guaranteeing me first place in my division. (I'm not printing playoff tickets yet; one poor guy in my last league made a post about how great his team was only to go into a tailspin, taking him right out of the playoffs.) What timing for the sale! Of course, I want more credits.

So, it looks like I'll be around for at least another year! :)

I had left the game for a few years when my last credits ran out. Money was tight and I was feeling burnt out on it. I remember the last team I had played just wasn't fun. I just recently started playing again. I feel reinvigorated and am enjoying the game again. Sometimes taking a break can be a good thing.
