Back to the 80's Pitching rotation

PostFri May 22, 2020 1:43 pm

Rookie here, playing in a 6 team private league using the Back the 80's set.
I have 4 Starting Pitchers (all with an *)- so they can all pitch on 3 days rest.
My question is:
Can I use a 4 man pitching rotation for the entire season?

Thanks!

yes, if each of the pitchers have a *, then you can have a 4 man rotation for the whole season.

Excellent!
Thanks.
I suppose I'm morally obligated to share this information with the other teams. We're all new and never played a season before.

Also, I suggest that you tell all the managers to read at least the first post in the message board topic entitled: "Help w/ reading the cards for Mystery Tournament Managers" It is important that everyone knows that, for each season, each player plays according to just one of their years - the "mystery" is trying to figure out which year that is.

You will also need a 750K SP as roster requrirements say you have to have 5 SP. However if you put that SP in the 5th spot of your rotation he should never pitch. Now if you have a very long extra inning game he may be the last remaining pitcher and get put in but generally he will never pitch.

One other thing. Most *SP don't have any possible card years where they pitched under 200 IP but IF one of your *SP ends up with a card that did not reach 200 IP he could possibly be injured for more than 3 games and in that case your 5th SP would pick up a start or more. If your *SP players are all on a card of 200 or more IP then they cannot be injured for more than 3 games and you will be good with the 4 man rotation all year long.

An example of this is Mario Soto. He has one card where he did not reach 200IP. If you use Soto, and he ends up with that card, it is possible (but still not likely) that he could end up with an injury of more than 3 games. There are others like this.
