Advanced Fielding

PostSat Aug 01, 2020 10:54 pm

Hopefully someone can help me out. As a kid, I simply played by the rules of the basic chart which is solely based on a player's fielding range.

When playing Mystery League and All Time Greats, I am not 100% how fielding x works.

I'm under the impression that the range is used initially by simulating a 20 sided die to determine if a hit was made on the fielding x. However, isn't there a second means by rolling 3 6-sided die and then using the advanced chart based on a position players errors at that position?

Can someone help me understand? Also, does anyone have a link so that I can see what this advanced chart looks like and how it's used?

Thank you for your time.

You are correct. Keep in mind you can get a base hit and an error on the same play.

I tried finding the super-advanced fielding chart when researching another question, and I couldn't find one. Oddly, I could find an older version but not the latest. (In the old version there was a range of numbers on the first roll that could produce an error, so you couldn't get a hit and error on the same play.)
