Walks when registered?

PostTue Jan 26, 2021 9:16 am

70's game - first game of season. Carew is injured in his third at bat. Sequence of at bats = W, 1B and LOmax/inj. When examining his "Pitcher vs Hitter" rolls...it reads "Hitters =2 and Pitchers =0". From this I assume that walks are not registered to either the pitcher or hitter. Is this correct? If this is correct, is this the same for pitchers?
Thank you for your help.

No, not correct.

I had a game last night (first game of season)...Pavletich (60s league), pinch hitter, walked in his only appearance and the dice roll got recorded on the hitters' side. He had no plate appearances in the other two games.

It's also interesting to note that another player got injured in my Game 1 and had no other appearances in the three-game series and the dice roll got recorded on the hitters' side.

The only thing that comes to mind in your Carew situation is if the lineout injury was the final out of the game and whether that resulted in a software bug being exposed.

Or, perhaps, the Carew lineout resulted in a double-play and a software bug was exposed in which, for some flaky reason, two outs couldn't be reconciled to one plate appearance, causing the stat generator to mess up.

What about when a player does a bunt attempt or Hit & Run attempt then the result is not from the hitter or pitcher card I wouldn't think. In the Carew example maybe the single came from a bunt or Hit & Run attempt??

no, this is not correct. The only walks that don't register are intentional walks. So, that W was from Carew's card. I agree with the previous post that there was a bunt-single or a hit-n-run/single. Bunts and hit-n-run attempts are not on either the pitcher or hitter card, so they do not register as a roll.

I'd be more concerned with how Carew got a 15-game injury on a lineout reading. His only year with under 600PA has injury on Gba not lineout.

Carew is 68 or 69; best year or worst year. Both years have under 600 AB + W.

My mistake...first game of the mystery tourny...60s season for Carew.
