No rationale has ever been given for 5 PM Eastern time waivers. I agree wholeheartedly that it makes far more sense to do waivers at 10 PM Eastern time to maximize the potential number of people who can be in front of their computer for the post waivers scramble. That way, most people on the left coast will have a chance to get home from work, eat dinner and spend a little time with the family before waivers hit. Under the current set up, waivers begin at 2 PM Pacific time, which makes it hard for those in that time zone to participate in the post waivers scramble.
Another good thing about 10 PM Eastern time waivers is that it allows us to set our preferences for that night's games for our other teams instead of having to set preferences and do the post waivers scramble at the same time if waivers were earlier.
Let's level the playing field as much as possible and change the waiver time to 10 PM Eastern time.
