It's giving up an awful lot to get Mathews, especially considering he's giving away by far his best SP for Shea, but he apparently wanted the best lineup money could buy.

Whoever gave up all those guys to get Mathews must have no idea what he's doing.

Its a lot to give up for Mathews- But 2 factors- 1 you can see from this and one you cant might be the reason.

First- the person trading away Turkey etc. doesnt really need most of those pieces that he traded.

Second- league stadiums, Id bet they play into it. And if its the right piece then you make that trade, even if you are overpaying.

Third- There is no Salty in mudville- therefor no big buyers for joe jax :( (dammm, cant believe I missed this one)

Let's assume the manager who picked up Mathews knows what he is doing. If he's right, it just shows how insane the Mathews card really is and that it needs to be replaced by the real strat card.
Granted the OF'ers traded didn't hurt a whole lot given that he still has a fine outfield, although it's a little crowded in CF or RF so that's either more trade bait or the dh, at least against righties.

But what's left of the team has some issues. Instead of Ripen at SS, there's Cronin, a significant drop. Connor is a bit marginal at this cap at 1B and all the waivers guys are under 8 M. He must be planning to play Charleston at 1B. Then there's the pitching staff: Adams and Jones and pray for rain. My guess is these guys are the pen and that the starters may include guys like Wilbur Wood, Brown, Tanana, Scott, Lincecum and Hershiser a good subset of whom should be obtainable on waivers.

I'm actually more concerned about what the guy who traded Mathews got. His team should now be very competitive whereas I don't think that was necessarily the case before the trade.

That's the kind of trade that would make my head explode. I am probably in that league and don't even know it.

One more reason why I have played my one and only $200 M autodraft league. You want to live draft them, I'm in (if I'm fast enough), and I'd also be more than happy to do a DD draft at that cap.

Yeah, I've reluctantly come to the same conclusion. This is my last 200M league.
