What is the second longest streak for New York teams in the World Series? (hint: it's happened twice)
First guess, but probably wrong: what about 1936-1943? The Yanks were in the World Series every year but 1940. Did the Dodgers win the Pennant in 1940? That would be 8 years. But I think maybe the Reds made the series in 1940, and I doubt there's another 8 year stretch anywhere to match it.
Second guess, and I think more likely: the Yanks were in the WS 5 years in a row between 1960 and 1964.
The matching one would be in the 1920s, from 1920-1924. Dodgers were in the WS in 1920, then Yanks & Giants in 1921-23. Giants I think played Washington in 1924. So that's 5 years, 1920 to 1924.
So I'm suggesting 1960-1964 (all Yanks) and 1920-1924 (Giants, Yanks & Dodgers). Of course, I may be missing something...
