BLAST FROM THE PAST REDO THEME LEAGUE, Draft on ILC

Great comments so far guys. I'm hoping to hear from other league members as well. I'm grateful to those who took the time to read and understand my rather lengthy post on the draft subject.

Based on the comments, right now I'm considering a shorter draft, either on the ILC or Diamond Dope. I like Diamond Dope, as it does a good job of tracking players, reducing the chance of picking a player already drafted. My experience with theme leagues with special rules limiting player eligibility is that mistakes are made even on Diamond Dope. Imagine how many mistakes will be made if we draft on the ILC.

I believe in a level playing field. One of my concerns about a shorter draft on the ILC is for people picking at the bottom of the first round of the draft. They have the most to lose from their past team and despite the large player pool, replacements won't always be able to fill the void.

If we have a short draft, you are asking the players at the bottom of the Diamond Dope draft to not only lose key players in the draft, but then to compete for free agents and replacements in the autodraft with the same teams that benefited from an early draft pick. That seems unjust to me.

After considerable thought, I've decided to use a different team. It is a no DH team, so my work is cut out for me. The updated league list is as follows:

After considering the comments, the draft will be held on the ILC thread instead of Diamond Dope. The draft will be serpentine and will be 8 rounds. Picks in the first 3 rounds are strictly limited to players from your past team. Beginning with round 4, free agents/replacement players can be selected. If you have fewer than 5 free agent/replacement players, simply list one of your past team players who will be retained, or just put "skip" on your draft pick.

I'll set the draft up on the ILC thread some time this evening.

Please remember the following before making your draft selection:

1. Check the rosters of all other teams and the list of picks before making your pick to reduce the chances of picking an ineligible player.

2. The first 3 rounds shall be for picking players from the roster of your past team.

3. Free agents/replacement players for past team players lost cannot be picked until the beginning of round 4.

4. When choosing a free agent or replacement player, you cannot draft a player who appears on the roster of another past team. After the autodraft, all players who fail to appear on a drafted team's roster are free agents and can be chosen subsequent to the autodraft provided all past team minimum roster requirements are met.

4. Your final roster must have a minimum of 18 players from the past team, minus any exemptions, up to a maximum of 3, for players lost as a result of being drafted prior to the autodraft. If no one else selects one of your past team players prior to the autodraft, you get no exemption for that player if you fail to keep him.

5. When drafting a player, please include the price and make a good faith effort to use the price of the version of the player you intend to use so that hoarding is minimized.

6. Remember, you can use any priced version of a player appearing on your past team.

7. If someone makes a draft error, please post in the ILC thread ASAP so that the error can be promptly corrected.

8. Keep in mind that the league cap is $110 mil.

9. Please name your drafted team the same or similarly to the past team.
