Standard versus advanced leagues

Without the manager ratings, what's the purpose of differentiating between a standard league and an advanced league? Am I missing something?

The ratings will be back eventually. Otherwise, you would be right; there wouldn't be any difference.

When is eventually? The world will end 12-21 and we need manager ratings before then to die happily.
