Excited about this one now. No need to scout with a new team each year, 100% balanced over the course of 12 seasons. Let's go!

Re: AL round-robin -- FILLED!

PostWed Nov 14, 2012 6:00 pm

OK, gang, we'e ready to get going!

Divisions for the first season will be based on the order as posted in the original list:

EAST
1. Boston Red Sox
2. Chicago White Sox
3. Cleveland Indians
4. Detroit Tigers

CENTRAL
5. [Older] New York Yankees, through 1945 [incl. Baltimore Orioles 1901-1902]
6. [Later] New York Yankees, 1946-to-date
7. Philadelphia - Kansas City - Oakland A's
8. St. Louis Browns - Baltimore Orioles [incl. Milwaukee Brewers, 1901]

WEST
9. Washington Senators, to 1960 - Minnesota Twins
10. Midwest Expansion: Kansas City Royals & Milwaukee Brewers, to 1997 [incl. Seattle Pilots, 1969]
11. West Coast Expansion: Los Angeles - California - Anaheim Angels & Seattle Mariners
12. Other Expansion: Washington Senators, 1961-1971 - Texas Rangers & Toronto Blue Jays & Tampa Bay Rays

Managers will be assigned to teams in the order shown above, based on the most-recent "daily 3" winners shown on the lotteryusa.com site as of 10:00AM EST tomorrow, November 15. The manager with the lowest lottery number will get team 1, next lowest will get team 2, etc.

Team assignments in subsequent seasons will rotate down the list. For example, the Red Sox manager of season 1 will get the White Sox in season 2, the Indians in season 3, etc.

Division assignments for each manager in subsequent seasons will be based on lottery results, with the lowest 4 numbers going to the East, the middle 4 to the Central, and the highest 4 to the West.

Note to jflatour99: It does not appear that Massachusetts has a "daily 3" winner. If you would like to choose another state before tomorrow morning, that's fine; otherwise, I will use the first 3 numbers of the 4-digit winner.

Note to salmonbellies: I was also unable to find a "daily 3" winner for Colorado. As above, you can choose another state before tomorrow morning; otherwise, I will use the first 3 numbers of Colorado's 5-digit winner.

Let's get ready to play ball!

Player selection

PostThu Nov 15, 2012 12:43 pm

As you begin to review your available players, keep in mind the rules for which ones you can use (and when):

- Autodraft includes only players carded to your team; you choose the year of each player, if there are more than one available.

- A player carded to more than one team in the league will only be available during the autodraft to the team for which he played the most games (e.g., Babe Ruth belongs to the Yankees in the autodraft -- and a Yankees card must be used during the season, if such a multi-carded player is drafted by them).

- Any non-drafted AL-carded player is available during the waivers period, as long as he has played for your team.
Pitchers can not be swapped for hitters or vice versa, though (e.g., Ruth only pitches for Boston and only hits for New York).

- Trades are okay, as long as you only end up with AL-carded players who have played for your team.

Also, a first glance at my Texas/Toronto team leads to an additional clarification:

- For teams that have players from more than one MLB franchise, then games played for each of those franchises count together when determining "the team for which he played the most games."
