Is anyone good coming up from the minors? Are those prospects they're getting from the Jays any good? It does seem awfully soon to be blowing up that team.

Unfortunate to say the least but the 1st thing they did was get rid of Ozzie Guillen and that was actually the best 1st move they could've made.

Escobar is very inconsistent, but Hechevarria could be a decent big leaguer. If, in fact, the Marlins land Marisnick, then they have themselves another potential stud outfielder, but he's a couple years away. Alvarez has been average to above average so far in his young career, a move to a better park and the NL could make him damn good.

I think Loria should now trade Stanton to the White Sox. ;) We can send them a Floyd and Viciedo in return
Makes sense to me :D

All kidding aside, what he has done is ridiculus but Boston has made similar moves dumping salary; just not to the same extent.

I would take 1 world series ring once every 10 years. They have done a good job of recognizing when they have a shot and going for it.

The current fire sale is different from the previous ones. Those were breaking up championship teams. This one was breaking up a really bad team.

I moved to Miami in 2006, so I missed the two WS championships, and all I've seen are good young players traded away for prospects who've been busts. Last year was a different approach, but after June 1st it fell apart. I can't imagine there will be much interest in season tickets for 2013, and I expect some who purchased them for next year are demanding a refund. In the right circumstances, Stanton could be the foundation of a great team. He deserves a shot at super-stardom with another team rather than the only MLB-caliber hitter on a AAA roster next year.

My sympathies are with you...it is utterly egregious and corrupt that an owner would grease the bank account of Miami politicians and promise a competitive team based on the new stadium and all the revenue, then suddenly destroy it -- Jeffrey Loria the owner gave the go ahead to do so last May or June, if I recall correctly, by dealing away Hanley Ramirez and other good players etc. They absolutely gave no time for the team to gel. So, a plague on your house, Loria, a terrible, selfish owner.
