Thanks for your response, Joe!

I currently have an active team running in ATGVI, so I'm online here every morning.

I appreciate you guys considering letting me back in, so keep me posted here.

Getting a little short in the memory as I get older, what did SBDL stand for again, Silent but Deadly......something like that?

Preparation for Same But Different League season #27

Tim Orzech, you will be taking over the reigns of Eric Martin's squad -
(Lunatic Fringe) http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/808530

Here is a old link I found to the most recent rules page I could find:
http://palanion.angelfire.com/sbdl/league-rules.html

the league 26 playoffs begin on Monday -

We can start naming our first 3 keepers for next season now -

If keepers are named in time we can start the steal phase in 2 weeks (first week in December) when the final draft order is apparent.

We can then name our next 3 keepers following the steal round.

The 6 round post keeper draft should be ready to begin somewhere before Xmas

Eligible players for season 27:
Pitchers - A, E, F, G, H, K, M, O, S, T, U, V, Y
Hitters - A, B, C, D, E, F, H, I, J, L, M, N, O, Q, R, U, W, Y, Z

(Retiring from season 26 are any B and J pitchers who are not named Keepers)

preliminary draft order at this time will be:
1) Munich_Man (Munich Sechs Maniacs)
2) 13Baseballs (Junior Furball 410)
3) emart's team now to be zrot (Lunatic Fringe)
4) tomwistar (Red Sovines)
5) Honeyman (Voodoo Dudes) *lost head to head with Palanion
6) Palanion (Psychedelic Furs 26)
7) joeoc (Tinley Prairie Ghosts 26) *lost head to head with novie
8) novie (Swansea Bay Demented Lepers)
9-12 to be determined after playoffs

Tim may select a new stadium without penalty if he wishes, but will need to announce it in the keeper phase

Current stadiums in use include:
1) Munich_Man (Munich Sechs Maniacs) - League 11
2) 13Baseballs (Junior Furball 410) - League 34
3) emart's team now to be zrot (Lunatic Fringe) - Shea 71
4) tomwistar (Red Sovines) - Griffith 24
5) Honeyman (Voodoo Dudes) - Forbes 09
6) Palanion (Psychedelic Furs 26) - Petco 05
7) joeoc (Tinley Prairie Ghosts 26) - Comerica 05
8) novie (Swansea Bay Demented Lepers) - Metropolitan 71
9) thaibill (Pattaya Scorpions) - Penmar
10) Bunze0 (SBDL Wannabees) - Forbes 54
11) Mr Baseball World (Milwaukee Bears) - Hilltop 11
12) hackra (South Buffalo Dunn Liberals) - Dunn 20

I'll start off the keeper list with my first 3 keepers -

hackra - Barry Bonds, Billy Hamilton, Bill Dickey

a couple of housekeeping issues -
remember that amongst the 7 keepers (including steal pick) each team can have a maximum of 4 hitters or 4 pitchers

I also noticed that in our letter groupings that U pitchers are included in 2 pitcher letter groups (HFU and GKEOVU) both of which are currently active. We are only talking about 4 pitchers - George Uhle(3 cards), Jim Umbricht, Tom Underwood, and Cecil Upshaw at this time.

Unless there is some objection, I would suggest we remove the U from the second group (therefore only retiring U pitchers if and when the HFU pitchers retire)

Sounds reasonable to me. ;)

Welcome back, Orz'z!

How long ago was it that you were in the league? Was it back in the Bush administration? Man, we've been playing this game for a long time.

Speaking of which: I came across a newspaper article the other day about Jamie Moyer pitching for the Geneva Cubs in the New York-Penn League ... during Ronald Reagan's FIRST term in office. I guess he's finally retired, but that guy had an amazing, admirably long career. I wonder how many presidential terms SBDL will be good for?
