During the waivers period and later, remember that:
- Any non-drafted AL-carded player is available during the waivers period, as long as he has played for your team.
- Trades are okay, as long as you only end up with AL-carded players who have played for your team.
Players do not have to be carded to your team in the ATG6 set in order to qualify. They just need to have played for your team at some time during their MLB careers.
Is it only possible for 1 "copy" of a player to exist in the league? I was thinking of switching one Oliva year for another, but it looks like I can't, because his salary is non-selectable for waivers. A tooltip says "owned by DC" for all three of Oliva's cards
(sorry, I'm not an ATG vet, so I don't know these things)
That means that the example of Ruth hitting for the Yanks and pitching for Boston could not happen.
Padre, if you decided you wanted another Oliva card, you would select your Oliva's salary, as if you were gonna drop him, and then select the Oliva card you want on the Free Agent Page. You DO have to wait to do that until waivers have run, though.
Never having played the ATG game before, it is fascinating to me to review the qualifications of the players.
I did not believe that the Texas/Toronto squad would be likely to have a great chance of success at the start, but now I'm not so sure.
I chose to count on star power and have no bench and only a limited bullpen -- that said, my 9 batters include 4 MVPs and 3 others who finished in the top 6 in the year of their cards; and my 4 starters include 3 CYA winners and 1 who came in second.
If the other teams have similar configurations, then how can anybody ever lose?!?
