Apology and 40-man Rule

PostThu Nov 15, 2012 11:27 pm

I've been perusing the Rules for our league since we finished loading our rosters and I came across something (by accident) I want to apologize for and also make sure you all are familiar with.

A while back after I traded a draft pick for Cory Luebke our acting Commissioner at the time, Sknsfan, asked who I wished to release to get my roster back to 40 players. I kept ignoring him, hoping he'd go away like a buzzing gnat around a light bulb, but he wouldn't go away! Sknsfan kept asking me every day who I wanted to release to get my roster back to 40. Well, after reading the rules tonight on "Roster rules": 1) and "Player Movement": 1) I see that we have exactly 1 (one) day to get our rosters back to 40.

I'm sorry, sknsfan. I kept assuring you I'd make a trade to square my roster surplus but that's not in keeping with the rules. I had one day to make a move and didn't do so. Thank you, sknsfan for knowing the rules and putting up with me.

From the Associated Press.......

IS THE EVIL EMPIRE LOOKING TO TRADE BAUTISTA?

Rumor has it that East Coast Empires Jose Bautista is on the Trade block.
I have it on good authority that there have been inquiries, says GM Mike Lopp.
There just hasn't been a good fit as of yet. While he did not mention the teams
it also has been rumored that the Empire is looking for pitching but is willing to
consider other needs. A Miami Marlins style purge is also being considered. It is a known fact that
the East Coast Gm considers "Jeff Loria a god" and may be looking to shake things up a bit. Personally
this reporter thinks the GM has been sniffing glue.

From the Associated Press:

This just in:

The Death Valley Reapers have just completed a 12 player trade with The East Coast Evil Empire. In the deal Death Valley
sends newly acquired Jake Peavy, Grant Balfour, Mike Napoli, Cody Ross, Pedro Sandoval, and Eric Hosmer to the Empire
for Tyler Chatwood, Jose Bautista, Cecil Fielder, Emilio Bonefacio, Victor Martinez, and an 8th round pick. This is pending
all players coming in for physicals. "Jeff Loria told me, in a dream, that I should do this" comments GM Mike Lopp.

Viva The Empire!

took all weekend but the grimm reaper confirms the deal

In reality, the rule isn't all that difficult to adhere to. In fact, in my other keeper leagues, the dropped player is reported as part of the trade communication.
For example, if I trade 2 players for 3 players and it gave me a total of 41 players, I would immediately identify the dropped player as part of the trade.

I trade:
Smith, Jones
for
Anderson, Doe, Garcia

Drop: Gonzalez

Done.
