World Series Rivals... Strat Partners

PostSat Nov 17, 2012 6:01 pm

I've had this idea for awhile; thought I'd toss it out there and see if there is any other interest.

Here's the concept:

Combine World Series rivals from across the years into a single combined team. $100 million cap, no DH. Players on multiple squads belong to the team owning the player's most expensive card. The exception here is if the most expensive card belongs to a team not involved in the league; then the team owning the next most expensive card has ownership rights.

We would ask for a random generator to decide the order in which teams are picked.

Teams are as follows:

1. NY Giants DB + Philly A's DB
2. Pirates DB + Tigers DB
3. Phil A's PRE + Cardinals PRE
4. Tigers PRE + Cubs PRE
5. Giants POST + Indians POST
6. Red Sox DB + Phillies DB
7. Pirates POST + Yankees POST
8. Athletics EXP + SF Giants EXP
9. Atl Braves EXP + Indians EXP
10. Boston Red Sox EXP + Cardinals EXP
11. Yankees EXP + Phillies EXP
12. Tigers POST + Cardinals POST

PLease note: I have not looked at these squads exhaustively, so if there are some obvious mismatches I can make changes. When looking at this, the Yankees presence in so many series did crimp the process a bit!

Would ballparks be limited to those of the two franchises for the era in question?

Great theme Andy!. I'm in, although I'd like to see more pairings from which to choose. I don't see any Dodgers teams on the list, which, considering their long winning tradition, seems to be a glaring omission. How about post war Dodgers-Orioles?

Thanks Bernie, but mrharryc came up with this one. Way back in the ATG Dark Ages, when actual teams like the 24 Senators, 61 Yankees, and 66 Orioles made up ATG instead of individual card seasons for players, I did do a theme similar to this.
