World Series Pitching Trivia

PostSat Nov 24, 2012 1:27 pm

Only once in World Series history has one series boasted two pitchers who won three games in a single series, obviously one on the winning team and one on the losing team. Can you name the Series, and the two 3-game winners?

Just a guess: 1903, the first series. Believe both the Pirates' Deacon Philippe and the Red Sox's Bill Dineen won three.

Awesome question and answer.

Phillippe's Pirates team lost that World Series, 5 games to 3 (best of 9). Phillippe won 3 games and, more astonishingly, he pitched 5 complete games for the Pirates of the 8 games played.
