4 revised cards

PostThu Nov 29, 2012 12:35 am

the atg7 announcement refers to 4 revised cards

The 4 ATG VI cards we'll be replacing are Arky Vaughan (1935), Nap Lajoie (1901), Bill Dickey (1937), Eddie Mathews (1953).

can someone describe what the problems were with those cards? I don't play atg much thanks

The issue is that the cards were taken from the Fanta-Sim game which inflates the batters cards a bunch;
This is different from the original strat-o-matic card that much more closely reflected the stats the player had, which hadn't been used in ATG thus far.

They're not real Strat cards ... they were pulled from a different game, Fantasim, the grossly inflates stats. Arky Vaughan, for example, was often outhomering Ruth.

Well, he didn't out homer Ruth on this team, but Arky's numbers are pretty ridiculous, especially his 66 HRs after hitting just 19 in a full regular season in real life.

Arky was, however, MVP ahead of Ruth. In his entire career, the highest Arky placed in MVP voting was 3rd, yet he routinely challenges for the MVP in our leagues.

I applaud the decision to replace the fantasim cards with more realistic cards.

Better get those last teams together with Arky, Nap, Eddie and Bill, as the fantasim steroid supply has dried up!

I would imagine, however, that like all past superseded ATG versions, ATG 6 will continue to be available for a time after the debut of ATG 7, so we'll be able to use the old Arky and his fantasim buddies if we truly miss them!
