All you have to do is get a committee of veterans to reprice once a year or so.

I would simply add a rule that if a relief pitcher reaches his POW in a game, he must rest the next game.

I think this would be a great step forward and hopefully not too difficult to implement. Though I might like to see a step further where if a reliever pitches 4 or 5 innings maybe he has to rest 2 games or at least has a reduced fatigue factor.

I'm not so sure this is a good idea.

One way to have a usage model is to set salaries for players at each park and then average the uses. I am pretty sure bbrool's model could be used that way by adjusting the park factor.

So...

Ruth original hypothetical salary $18M.

Ruth Fenway, $24M times 200 uses
Ruth Busch, $20M times 100 uses
Ruth Royals, $16M times 100 uses

Add that together and divide by the number of uses and you get a new salary of $21M. It's easily automated at that point. Know what I mean? Once a year might be a good refresh timeframe.

Also, I think I am at a crossroads with Diamond Dope. I am not sure if I want to continue to support it. I guess I have until ATG VII comes out to stir that around...

ATG-VII is supposed to be out within a week. ATG-VI will run parallel (at least for a while) - we'd like to use DD for one last live draft for the Barnstormers Finals. If you are going to switch it off, maybe you would consider turning it over to me or someone else to host elsewhere.

I am just wondering how this shuffle the deck feature is going to work.

Does the league creator hit a button and a new set of cards are generated?

I hope they take my suggestion of shuffling the stadiums as well. I would also like to see a stadium draft list implemented. And that there will be unique stadiums going forward. I hate joining a league and finding out after the draft there are 4 teams playing in the same exact stadium.

Hard for me to get much excited about a new version that has only one new feature.

When I first saw the announcement my first thought was maybe they have been putting fixes and feature restoration in to the new version for ease of coding and testing. No mention of anything new in the post was a disappointment.

Hard to get excited about 200 new cards with no hint about who might be included. Any little hint at all would generate some discussions on the boards creating some interest. It was fun reading the comments about which new cards might get the most use or guesses on what the prices might be.

The news of the 4 cards being replaced was very welcome.

On pricing the entire set I would be in favor of that. But believe it should be formula based and not under the control/influence of any game players. To me that is a little like letting stock brokers set stock prices.

That was my first reaction. JohnG is realtive new to the strat community, especially with respect
to new version rollouts. Maybe its just a teaser. We'll find out soon.

A bunch of new cards every version rollout seems too slow.
On the other hand, I also thought new cards every month was too frequent. I didn't like having
active teams with three different sets. Two was cool, three was confusing.
Since it takes two months for the regular season to end, for me that would be an ideal interval.
So IMHO, 20-30 new cards every 2 months would be far more preferrable than 200 all at once.
Just thought I would throw that out there.

So, when they are reactionary we want them to be proactive, and when they are proactive we want them to be reactionary :) ;)

Shouldn't they be BOTH Proactive AND Reactive?

I think the beef is more that things are the opposite of how they should be- they are reactive to what they should be proactive on, and vice versa.

PAR EXAMPLE:
1st- ask the community its priorities (features, new cards etc.)
2nd- explain to the community which of those are able to be done and why
3rd- do them

See, you react to things when there are UNFORSEEN problems; these will occur from time to time- however, not giving us an update in 2 months until Salty asks where the updates are does not fit that category.
Same thing with Nev asking where the advanced rules are posted- thats a free throw.

PS- Im gonna state again that there have been a couple positive things- site stablity being one- just in case certain people forget that Im trying to improve things and not simply gripe.
