Mel Ott gets on base, Salazar pinch runs for him. Good move.
When it comes time to take the field, Salazar replaces Ott -- again, reasonable.
But, for no reason I can see, Tito Francona replaces Don Buford in LF. Buford isn't a great LF, but he is a lot better than Francona. The run Salazar scored gave me a one-run lead in the 8th, making the substitution of a worse defensive player even stranger.
Nobody pinch-hit or pinch-ran for Buford. Hal just wanted to give Tito a try, I guess.
