No Need to Re Run Games

PostSun Dec 02, 2012 2:02 am

lineup construction might affect maybe 1 or 2 games over the course of a season. You can use a lineup batting your weakest hitters in order from top to bottom and compare it with a lineup from strongest to weakest and it wont make too much of a difference in wins - a 3 game series is such a small sample size that it really doesn;t matter - move on to the next series

HUH?
Personally, I want by better on base guys hitting in front of my big boppers, not my weakest on base guys.

that is the stupidest logic i have ever heard regardless of how much truth there may be in it. we paid for these games. if they want to give a free credit(s) to everyone of us for each team we had then yeah screw it let's keep going, but i do not see them doing that.

I had some of my weakest guys bat in front of my boppers and some did pretty good actually - if you paid your money and expect the game to carry out your lineup instructions, I understand that, but I paid too and it doesn;t bother me, just like the game doesn't always follow, bullpen logic, pinch hitter assignments, def. subs...it's all part of the game engine and it's never really going to be perfect - been playing for 10 years or so and thats never bothered me - my money, my prerogative

Yup stupid logic even if true. Can't wait for the next guy to say it affected us all the same...Oh and the guy who says it all evens out...best will be Bernie saying, well not Bernie, but anonymous saying this will absolutely not happen again...I'll say over/under on the next time it happens being 2 weeks...and then Bernie saying, well not Bernie, but anonymous saying this will absolutely never happen again, I pinky promise.

You say stupid logic if true - but it is true logic. Mathematically it is negligible to the point of being a non-issue. The game engine being as it is, they'll replay the games with our lineups intact, but take out Pedro or Maddux throwing a shut out in the 6th inning or pinch run for Bonds in the 6th inning of a tie game - there are so many variables to this game that it really doesn;t matter. I guess some of you guys got swept tonight?

Im sorry but if the logic of what we do in managing lineups etc doesnt/barely matter-
why do we bother playing the games?
Why not just draft, trade and get the seasons results?

hard to really buy one set of logic without the other.

@JB I hear you...but two things, one I've got 30 active making this is little harder for me to just let it slide by...but most importantly it's the principle of getting what we paid for...Oops, sorry just shouldn't suffice.

@Salt...great point Salt

Sorry to burst some peoples bubbles, but do you really think that our inputs really matter that much into the results of these games? ;) It's all random, and though I will admit that some of our settings get translated unto the games, this is just one 3 game series - no big deal to me. Thats why I asked Strat not to rerun the games - I;m happy with my results

If the game results need be no better than a slot machine outcome, then I applaud
your dispassonate interest. Kind of like Spock.

But given the run differences on different lineup models and the impact the pythagorian
on runs, its more like 5 games a season. Not that this changes the conclusion, its still
a small impact.

But the starters were left out of some games too. That impact is much bigger and
has a highly assymetric impact on teams and manageial strategies to lesser and greater
degrees.
