Sometimes I let HAL make my lineups for the first few series so I can see what his opinion is of my talent. I've noticed that HAL makes lineups on a game-by-game basis (something we cannot do) depending on the characteristics of the opposing starting pitcher and the ballpark effects. There seems to be a method to HAL's madness in making lineups, one calculated to yield the best team results.

What I noticed in reviewing tonight's results is that HAL reverted to his default lineups instead of the ones I inputted. My results were about what I do most nights -- win a few more than I lose if I'm lucky. I can't say that I would have done better with my lineups.

If there is one thing I will give them credit for, it is that they were quick to recognize and respond to this lineup issue, and it's the weekend.

Though I personally dont care either way, for the sake of fairness, they should try to replay the games if at all possible.

The right thing to do is to re-run the games

PostSun Dec 02, 2012 2:57 am

Is stupid logic an oxymoron or am I just a stupid moron?

My teams went 8-7 tonight. There is a lot of room for movement either way if the games are replayed. But the outcome of the games is irrelevant in making the decision to replay.

The game engine malfunctioned. When that happens, the right thing to do is to replay the games. I want the lineups I made playing the games and my opponents are entitled to the same thing.

I don't think that there is any ambiguity here and apparently SOM agrees, otherwise why investigate the possibility of replaying the games? It will come down to whether such is feasible.

By the way, use of the phrase "going forward" instead of "in the future" or other such phrase has Bernie's signature all over it.

I hope I don't wake up in the morning and see revised results of 0-15, but if that's the price of getting it right, so be it.

Thats because it affects us all equally

I think next MLB game all players should wear weighted 15 pound shoes.
Wont it slow down all players equally?

ERGO- a speed team is equally affected as a longball one, right?

PS- Big nods to kurt vonnegut's welcome to the monkeyhouse for forseeing this.

To all those flailing around, this one hit it square on the head.

Yes the games had to be re-run--the first batch was not a valid run. Why someone thinks they "deserved" the results when the lineups were jacked up is beyond me. It wasn't just the order, it was who actually played--HAL picked the players from the roster. It was like leaving the lineups bank.

Like others, I've done that before--I think in most cases differences are negligible, but not in all cases. And besides, we paid to make inputs which weren't considered. Replay. Quick decision. Done. Good job by SOM for checking their work and being decisive.

I am so sick of this "going forward" mantra. Can we PLEASE drop it and use "moving ahead". The election ruined the term forward and now everyone and their brother is using it. So lets move ahead .

I've always preferred 'henceforth' myself. And Bernie has always overused "going forward" which seems to be corporate speak; I haven't heard it much in other contexts. Fortunately.

Argh...I went from an 8-4 night to a 6-6 night when they re-ran the games. Plus lost a game in the Barnstormer standings. Plus I picked up some painful injuries that didn't happen the first time.

From a selfish viewpoint, I would have been happy to let the original games stand.

Went 10-3 last night including going up 2-0 on Sr. Druid in the finals so I'll take it!

My biases aside, Strat did the right thing. Way to go

Druid, Obama used it , Romney used it, all the news channels use it, even football announcers are using it. Forward was and always will be a Communist slogan of Lenin. Thusly , now that Obama won, it's time to let it go. That is , of course, if Comrad Obama CAN let it go.
