Any idea when this is going to start? Got some friends that are looking to start a league, and we're wondering if it's worth waiting for the new set or not.

And it will take Adrian a bit of time to update the diamonddope site. I believe it was a week with ATG 6.

Don't take Adrian's site for granted. He had posted previously that he might not continue to support the site for much longer, so I wouldn't be surprised that if he wants out, now would be the time to do so. I hope Diamond Dope sticks around, whether it is hosted by Adrian or some other SOM manager.

Valen,

That question was answered in the public announcement. I was only asked to run 200 new cards through the old pricing formula's to add to the set. As far as repricing the entire set, I am sure it is on the horizon, but 2012 is probably next up and I know Bernie has mentioned revisiting the pricing on the 80's mystery game as well as the other mystery formats (for the record I was not involved in pricing back when the 80's game was released, but was involved in the 70's and 90's).

In my spare time I was going to go back begin playing with variable that I think need to be updated in the next pass, I was thinking about starting a thread and see what constructive feedback I can get from the community, but that may not be as great as it sounds. It is hard enough balancing feedback from 10 testers with conflicting opinions, opening up to the larger group could be disaster.

Shuffle feature includes options to limit stadiums, highest salary allowed and number of cards.

Here is my two cents on the new cards - they suck big time...

Most of the hitter's cards are high priced platoons that no one will ever use or are years of star's cards that won't be used either (other than Simmons).

There are a few good SP cards.

They certainly did not follow the request list that was available to them.

I am guessing that if you look, you will find that they did follow the list. The list had 1,977 hitters on it and not sure how many pitchers. There was no distinction between cards that were frequently asked for and those that may have had only one person asking for them.

Gil Garrido, Dick Gyselman and Jim Beauchamp were on the list. I did not do any more checking beyond that.

Perhaps they did a "Shuffle the Deck" on the list of proposed cards... not quite sure why Dick Gyselman -- he of the 43 career hits -- warrants inclusion in All-Time Greats but Gary Sheffield and Scott Rolen do not.

Based on many of the inclusions, I can see why they didn't release any teasers... I have no problem with adding some cheap cards just to make things proportional, but many of new additions are underwhelming.

It certainly doesn't look like there was any attempt to focus on the franchise subsets, even though they are a popular basis for theme leagues. I haven't gone through every team, but there were more Diamondbacks (7) than Tigers (6- and only one hitter over $1M) and White Sox (6) -- even though those teams had a 90+ year head start... only one Mariner (Felix Hernandez) and one Blue Jay (Tom Candiotti), as well.

Basically all ATG7 accomplishes from my perspective is it gives everyone a choice between a set with the silly fantasim cards and a set with realistic replacements for those cards.

So for example no matter which side you fell on whether Arky was undeservedly the best (or at least close) card in the set you can now potentially be happy. :D
