PostMon Dec 10, 2012 3:58 pm

Was NOT excited at all about this last release. There are a number of players that are usable, but for the most part cards that made me say WHY????? So looking forward to additional card releases I have started an Expansion Team List. Feel free to add and include Players for DB, Pre and Post. Lets try to keep the ERAs separate. How bout instead of a 3rd Jeter season a

1. Troy Tulowitzky card (2011)

2. 2010 Josh Hamilton

3. 2009 Kevin Youk and Hanley Ramirez

4.2008 Youk

I havent even looked at the pitchers yet.

I'd like to see the next set include 3 or 4 more Jose "Can You See" Cruz cards...

Great idea Bill, but since your lists consist of previously requested players by members of the online community, how is it that you are determining "what people really, really want"?

Some deadballers:

Tim Jordan - a great power hitter of his time with really bad knees. 1906 was his best year.

Buttons Briggs, a nice SP with a 2.04 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 1904, then made 20 starts with a 1.15 WHIP in 1905, but never pitched again. Not sure what happened to him, but it wasn't apparently an injury. He died in 1911 at age 35, so maybe he came down with TB like Joss.

Noodles Hahn - both his 1902 and 1904 cards should be better than the one we have.

George Davis 1893 - a .972 OPS in a non-1894 DB season.

Emmett Heidrick - 1899 - .791 OPS and 600+ PA in CF for the Cardinals, 1901 - .837 OPS but <600 PA, also Cardinals. He was also an excellent CF.

Now you went and got me curious bout the baseball career of Buttons Briggs.

So far not much info:

He was traded by Chicago Cubs with Billy Maloney, Jack McCarthy, Doc Casey and $2000 to Brooklyn Superbas in exchange for Jimmy Sheckard (December 15, 1905). He played semi pro ball in 1906 in the Ohio Trolley League. Nothing on how he died.

BD--

I don't really know. I was hoping that this thread would give us some sort of direction as to priorities. I know that from the various threads that Olerud, Manny, Utley, Sheffield, Pedroia (among others) are names that keep coming back (at least in the EXP era). What would be great would be to have a debate about the names that are put out here. Maybe different codes for different levels of desire. Red for this guy absolutely better be in the next addition or I'm moving to WhatIf. Blue for this would be a nice addition. Green for maybe in a couple of years.

Just in passing, one thing about the latest additions is that there were some lower echelon guys who got in probably because there were 200 additions. We should probably allow for room for some (not a lot) of these guys each time (especially for people who play 60, 80, theme or franchise leagues).
