I sent one proxy to durantjerry. I am out for awhile tonight. If he gets picked, it will be 10:30 eastern before I'm back.

Wow, I think AdamKatz has about 30 mil invested in 3 players. The Steinbrenner era has begun.

I avoided Seaver just because Palmer was cheaper. I guess the David Glass era has also begun.

While we meander down this intellectual challenge of drafting with 30 years in front of us, I propose an amendment to our rules constitution. At least one other manager was particularly happy with the notion of a lottery to determine subsequent draft order amongst those with the 4 worst records at draft time near the end of the season.
My proposal is a tweak.
I do support the notion that weaker teams should generally have the benefit of choosing first amongst the fresh talent but I certainly don't want to incentivize underperformance, and we all know the difference between a contender and a pretender in mystery card games sometimes comes down to fortune on which player seasons you draw. So I want to soften the draft benefit to being a bottom placed team somewhat.
I propose that we each select 3 states (unique - so 36 states required). One is our primary, another secondary and a third tertiary pick. Those teams with the four worst records following the completion of game 141 will get to use all 3 states in the lottery, those in position 5-8 will get to use their primary and secondary states and those with the four best records will only use their primary state. Each manager will get to use the best (lowest) of their eligible state selections to determine their draft position. i.e. each of the bottom teams get three bites at the lowest lottery score, the middle ranked teams get to use the better of their two selections, while the better teams have to use their sole state lottery number.
This still gives a presumptive benefit to the weaker teams but should mitigate any 'tanking'.
Yes - to the change (and my primary is that used for the initial draft or other, secondary and tertiary states are...)
No - leave it the way it is

I also vote 'No'.

With this great group of GMs/Managers we will all ultimately be in the position of being cellar dwellers for some seasons. This format doesn't guarantee 'success', just ask the Cleveland Browns!

Vote No. I suck in the 70s, but not from a lack of trying.
