I don't understand fielding

PostFri Dec 14, 2012 10:40 am

Last night my opponent got a leadoff single on a GB-3B X. Mike Schmidt is a 1.
The very next inning my opponent got a single on a Catcher's card X (rating C3e2).

Neither of these results are possible on the super advanced charts, so the online game must be using some sort of super duper advanced fielding. Is there a way I can find out about this?
Maybe the official scorer was paid off by the opposing hitters?

Appreciate the insight!

There are things that can modify your fielder's Range rating. In the first instance, if the leadoff man was fast, HAL typically brings the corners in to make it harder for him to bunt his way on. This makes Schmidt a 2 in the case of an X play to him, since he has less time to react.

As for the Catcher, I don't have a good answer for you there. I would be surprised to learn that a Range of 3 doesn't have a way to have a single hit against him, though. CATCH-X was always a lot different from other positions, however.
