46 Amazing, Crazy or just Weird stats...(Real MLB)

PostMon Dec 17, 2012 5:06 pm

I assembled this list slowly over time...these are real MLB records NOT strat records. I figured i'd share them here since there are probably more stat nuts like myself here than anywhere else.

These records are from 1901-2012. I didn't include pre-1901 because there was no American league at the time.

Where it applies batters must have had enough PA's to qualify for a batting title. Here they are in no particular order:

I'll look through my leagues and see if any simulated stats are better than these "Amazing, Crazy or just Weird" stats.

Thanks for sharing. Are you related to Tim Kirkgen. How do you spell his name anyway.

The Dilone stat was interesting. How can you have that much speed and not make it to third at least once?

I want that 57 Mays card in ATG.

With all the Big Mac cards how did we miss that 200 season?

Assume everyone behind Hughie Critz have positive clutch on their cards.

Oglivie 41 HR at 160 lbs. Guess i can quit worrying about Profar only weighing in at 170. :D

Curious thing about Belle with his 50/50 is the noticeable lack of doubles on his strat card.

Who was hitting behind Kessinger. Wondering if he ever felt insulted?

Come on Biggio, you couldn't have hustled and stretched just one of those in to a triple?

Valen you picked out the ones that were most interesting to me as well....

It's hard to believe some of the futility...Waner with 223 hits but only 25 extra base hits?
Belliard with 286 AB's with no Doubles?

I still can't believe Aurilia hit .324 with 37 HR's and 37 Doubles and had less than 100 RBI...I believe he might have hit 2nd so that may help explain it..

How about that 75' Pete Rose season...Charlie Hustle?

Great stuff Corky 8-). If ya REALLY wanna hook the stat-nerds (like me) though, make it a quiz next time.

And Campanella matched Soriano's feat on #4 (47 and 94). I'll have to look for some more :ugeek:

I didn't think guys would like to be quizzed, plus its kind of easy to look up the answers anyway ;) I do have another list with pitching records i'll post soon.

I'm sure some of the SLG% and OBP% records could be matched in SOM but some of these won't be touched....like O'Connors 174 AB's with no extra base hits

Okay, I have the '57 season. Here's what the numbers would be from the Mays card Diamond Dope style in Fulton '78.
