I used to play a similar "all-time greats" simulation at Stats.com, and we had the choice of per-game lineups instead of the standard vs LH and vs RH pitcher lineups. I can't remember for sure, but I believe starting pitchers were locked in a hour early to allow managers to set lineups that way if they so choose.

This is a nice feature, I suppose ... but it negates one of the few "advantage -- pitchers" strategies of the game. Just what we need, more offense. Why don't they offer some innovations that go the other way? Like bullpen logic that actually works.

This feature has always been available on the computer game and it never made sense for it not to be available here. I get the point about it affecting 200 mil leagues more but you have to develop some new strategies and adapt. The need to adapt should only help those that are good managers. It is going to be hard to make everyone happy with everything as can be seen by the differing views on this feature. I always thought everyone wanted more managerial control and many have requested the ability to set line ups game by game which would essentially be the same thing. I guess this just makes it easier for those that wouldn't have the time to keep up with that.

I've played the CD Rom game, and I thought it was 4-5 reverse balance before those lineups were used. A L 1R guy isn't much different than E or 1L, and most of your players are going to be a few balance against the opposite side anyway . . . you'd be giving yourself a negative matchup in there cases. Oh well . . . Balance is a relative rating anyway.

So many complain about unrealistic hitting numbers, yes?

Even more moan about unrealistic inning by some rps, the dreaded super reliever, yes?

But does anyone think reverse lineups are unrealistic?

Hmm how many real life situations, did managers swap out righties to load up a lineup of lefties to face a lefty? A few times yes....but this is also as unrealistic if not more so than the above things many complain about....

Okay-
IMO- this is NOT a good development- and quite frankly its not even logical because some of the 1,2Ls or 1,2Rs etc. are not really accurate to begin with.

Bullpen 3 as I believe a few folks have mentioned 'should' have been the priority.

BUT reality says that since this feature was in the computer game then it was easier to migrate to the online game than developing BP3, so they went and did it.

Weather you like this feature or not, I have to say its once again a break-down in communication- because again- its a feature being sprung upon us in the MIDDLE of SEASONS currently being played-
wouldnt it be nice to actually be able to play your team based on the existing rules when you drafted it???

Doesn't this also negate ballpark effects to a degree?

No more drafting select pitchers to fit niche parks.

I have no use for this feature.

I really would like to see Left/Right default line-ups for every stadium in a given league. JMO, but that would be a lot more helpful.

TRW- this is a poorly thought out implementation of it-
being able to set line-ups on a per game basis against specific pitchers is what should be developed and ONLY in conjunction with something similar for pitching matchups.
BUT ONCE AGAIN-
where is the communication- now Wed and this is coming in 2 days?
REALLY REALLY NOT APPROPRIATE- Im not for it, but maybe if it was announced that all NEW LEAGUES starting on Friday would get it I wouldnt be so ticked- but its really not fair once again.

I like it. If managers are able to do this in the real game then I like to be able to do it here. Just as easy as negating the effects of some players people can also get burned by this if they over compensate.

I do agree that it needs a sliding scale and it should have been implemented with much further notice.
