New Reverse lineup feature

PostThu Dec 20, 2012 6:09 pm

Am I reading this right??? If I'm reading what I think I'm reading about the reverse lineups, it seems like it will use the revesre lineup even if a SP is only a 1 rating on the reverse side. In other words a LHSP rated as an 1R-9R will kick to the Reverse lineup, and a RHSP will kick to the reverse line up rated from 1L-9L with no control for the rating 1-9.

While I love the idea of the reverse lineup and I know it's something we've clamored for since the games debut, I think most of us hoped there would be a little more control as to when it kicks in. I'd like to see a control box that lets us designate at what level of reversedness ( I just made up a word :D ) the reverse lineup kicks in. Say greater than or equal to 5, so for a lefty keep the normal lineup for 1R to 4R, but use the reverse lineup for 5R to 9R.

If this functionality is there can someone point it out to me, cause I'm not seeing it...

I have been struggling with my decision whether to buy more credits. Dumping this new feature on us in the middle of a season without warning...

Well, it made my decision easy.

I have enough credits left to complete my obligations if anyone from my keeper league is reading this.

I realize that's not why you started this thread, and I realize the feature is something many have asked for. However, I have never been a fan for it. Having people load up lefties against (reverse) lefties and vice verse rubs me the wrong way. But adding this feature mid-season (which really hurts my present 2011 team) is the last straw.

Well, I like it!

I think that the original "ask" from strat might have been individual lineups for particular games. But hey, anytime you get another "control" in your hands, what's not to like????

And anyway, you don't HAVE to use it. It's optional.

Can't see why this is a bad thing. For me it's an enhancement to our controls.

Besides....there's an even more nefarious and devious way to get a similar lineup control result 8-) . But I like what strat did with this. It gives you more control over the lineup than my devious alternative. And you can still use the devious alternative. [Hint - who's on first?] :)

Thanks STRAT!!!!!

I agree with gbrookes - it's optional - what's not to like? While I'm not a huge fan of the concept, I'll use it on occasion.

Good job, Strat.

I like the greater control offered by the reverse lineups. With a three-game series each evening, there is very little possibility of facing two or three pitchers who throw from the same side and who are (both/all three) stronger against the opposite side. In other words, it would be a rare occurrence to want the reverse lineup in one game and not in another, against the same-armed pitcher, in the same series. When that rare case does occur, though, the decision could be tough.

I can see wanting to use a reverse lineup against some SPs (like Ricky Romero 2011), but I can also see wanting it to be inactive most of the time. I would not want to have to reset the ENTIRE lineup, with subs, each time I make the reverse lineup active; it seems that a "Active/Inactive" button would be a good choice. You would preserve the structure of the Reverse Lineup when it is inactive, but you could choose to activate it with a single click.

One comment on a minor point, from above: I think that any programming change will occur in the middle of one league or another. Friday is the last day of my current season, and my best SP is Ricky Romero, whose value is reduced by the capability of reverse lineups. With respect to all, I support the decision to install it.

Regards, Gene!

But nobody wants to answer my question...

Do all of you read it the same way I do???

Yes, you are reading it right.

From the lineup page (bolding mine):

vs. Reverse LHSP
This is the lineup that will be used when facing a reverse left-handed starting pitcher, i.e. a LHSP with a balance of 1R-9R. If this lineup is left blank, your default LHSP lineup (above) will be used vs. all LHSP.

That's what i thought as far as I'm concerned then it's virtually useless in it's current form...

Seems a little overkill to quit because of this. I'm in a keeper league that is near the end of the season and the commissioner asked us all not to use the reverse lineups. Pretty simple solution.

You're right; it's overkill to quit over this one thing. But it's not this one thing. It's the lack of communication.* It's not fixing bugs such as defensive replacements sometimes coming in when you are losing. Or not having replacements come in when they should. Or realizing your season has ended because your team doesn't show up anymore on the start page (oh yeah, this bug was "fixed"). It's seeing pitchers pulled after five innings when they are pitching a 1-hitter. This was simply the last straw.

*John Garcia's new blog is a great step in improving communication. And yet even with the blog, they don't allow replies. That's nuts.
