If we were sitting across the table from each other, rolling the dice to play each game, we would both create a lineup each game. Being forced to set lineups for three games at a time is a flaw in this game. Making it harder for managers to take advantage of this inherited flaw can not be seen as a negative in my opinion.

and if we were sitting across the table from each other creating lineups for each game in 200m we could start Gibson and once you stack your lineups with lefties Gibson could get pulled for Mickey freakin Lolich after facing one batter...Apples to oranges.

The league I'm in has a rule preventing that. It says you can not remove your starter before five innings pitched unless he lets up two runs or more. Also, any reliever being brought in, has to be warming up for two batters unless it's between innings. Your can only have two pitchers warming up at a time.

(I do like that you picked the stars from the 1968 World Series though for your example) :)

yes, all kinds of rules are set up...

a starter has to go 5 innings or allow 4-5 runs before being pulled
a manager has to declare a pitcher is warming up in the bullpen
a pitcher has to wait 2-3 batters before coming in to a game
strict usage charts from game to game for relievers
getting a pitcher up in the pen 3 times in a game is equal to an appearance for the usage chart
a reliever must wait x number of games before he can start a game
a starter must wait x number of games before he can relieve

these kinds of things moderate usage in face to face leagues, i was hoping that SOM would be gravitating toward this stuff for our online leagues. I guess not, just 200 more cards with no thought process behind them..

I would be extremely surprised if Strato brought in any usage limits/restrictions. Be too complicated to program and likely would be a controversial feature that would almost certainly require repricing of set.

Of course now Gibson is wasted for the next 3 games. An expensive use of him even in 200 mil.
And goes without saying my real problem with this example is the reminder of 68 World Series.

More than anything else on this thread, I agreee with this.

It will probably hurt my teams more than it helps them, I use spot starters a lot
against other teams lineups and the reverse lineups should help the managers
against spot starters. Still, control trumps it.

Programming usage limits would be the easiest thing in the world - as soon as he hits his IP or PA limit in the regular season, he's out for the season, including the playoffs. You'd just have to drop him, and he'd be dead for the league. Believe me, you'd make sure you didn't overuse Dale Murray. He'd be a really good $2.5 million reliever.

There are already lineup usage limits built into the game engine, it's called "Draft League Mode With Rest, but I think the online game is using "Draft League Mode Without Rest", which would remove any usage restrictions."

There are a lot of us who believe that this site should be dominated by HOFers, not one-year wonder 44 IP relievers. I doubt that Murray has ever pitched more than 330 innings on this site in one league, but maybe I'm wrong.

Nice job of programming usage limits into "draft league mode with rest". WTG Strat-0-Matic.
