Having people load up lefties against (reverse) lefties and vice verse rubs me the wrong way. But adding this feature mid-season (which really hurts my present 2011 team) is the last straw.
Seems a little overkill to quit because of this. I'm in a keeper league that is near the end of the season and the commissioner asked us all not to use the reverse lineups. Pretty simple solution.
You're right; it's overkill to quit over this one thing. But it's not this one thing. It's the lack of communication.* It's not fixing bugs such as defensive replacements sometimes coming in when you are losing. Or not having replacements come in when they should. Or realizing your season has ended because your team doesn't show up anymore on the start page (oh yeah, this bug was "fixed"). It's seeing pitchers pulled after five innings when they are pitching a 1-hitter. This was simply the last straw.
*John Garcia's new blog is a great step in improving communication. And yet even with the blog, they don't allow replies. That's nuts.
I'm sorry, but I sadly have to agree. Strat-o-matic is just not worth it to me, even after reducing the insane prices (finally) there are way cheaper options out there with far more control. I JUST CAN'T keep making excuses for the absolutely STUPID crap HAL does to me over and over ruining game after game and season after season.
How sucky is it to invest so much damn time and money drafting and coming up with strategies that you just can't implement properly because the control is completely jacked. I've got two 5+ million dollar pitchers in the bullpen after a great comeback to take the lead and instead of bringing one of those two studs in... it brings in my RP specialist worth 600,000 dollars.... AND LEAVES HIM IN until the bases are loaded then brings in a stud to lose the game. This kind of shit happens over and over an over again with no ability to understand why or how some of this crap happens. People post on the message boards and then everyone tries to come up with a million excuses why the stupid play happened.
Well, I think I have the answer.
The game is broken. It needs A LOT of work. And to me, it just seems like this is a part time job for somebody, a side project. It does not give off the perception of a well oiled machine, it just feels like the cleveland browns are running the show. It's too sloppy. It's too wonky. It needs
a lot of work but I have a feeling that it's going to continue on being a leaky ship and the best I can ever expect is a new patch or plug to keep the thing afloat.
I've got a few obligations and will keep my mind open and pray that SOM gets their shit together because I do love the community going on here, but something about the game has just started to really irk me. (even my 100 win team annoyed the shat out of me many, many times) It just feels like this is the same xrap I was complaining about 5 years ago and the glitches and kinks are never going to get better. It is what it is I guess. (broken)
+ the lack of stats, records, hall of fame. That to me is just lazy. That is THE biggest part of the whole experience to me. What is the point of playing SOM for 20 years when you can't even name a single record or accomplishment that you hold. Pee-u. It's almost 2013 people, we deserve BETTER, especially at the premium prices we pay to play this game. Just my two cents, but this place needs a leader. A captain. Someone to right the ship and make people feel like their voice is being heard and their complaints are being noticed. I have never really felt that here at SOM.
Again, it just feels like this is a part time fling for someone when it really needs to be a full time love affair.
